Hello all,

I have a bit of a potato PC and was wondering whats my best / cheapest path to achieve 1080p gaming. I have £250 to £300 to spend my PC is built into a mini ITX case i'd like to stay small form factor if possible due to space.

My PC specs are below

I5 4750 - Is this good enough?
4gb ram not sure on speed.
NO GPU
500W semi modular PSU

many thanks.

I think you mean 4570.
47xx is i7 serie and there's no particular 4750 model.
Quad core without even hyperthreading is starting to get old for gaming, especially with the amount of background bloat running in today's PCs.
Also patches to all vulnerabilities of Intel's leaky CPUs have no doubt nibbled performance here and there.

But that memory is lot bigger problem, 4GB is hardly enough for light Wintoys10 use.
8GB is absolute minimum for gaming.
And for gaming Intel's integrated GPU is pretty much crap.
Unless liking slide shows or game is Minesweeper.

Also PSU could be questionable.
What's the accurate model number?

Thanks for getting back to me, my mistake with the cpu it is indeed a I5-4570, not sure on the ram I think its some Adata ram so looks like I'll need to purchase 8GB as you said. I have an Antech 650 truepower psu I can use and hope its good enough? So am I looking for some ram and a basic'ish GPU 1050ti for example.

basic'ish GPU 1050ti for example.
radeon rx570 is far better performing, and often cheaper too.
i wouldn't look anywhere else for a gpu.

and as mentioned...ram. either 8 gb, or preferably 16gb. would get this preowned. you need ddr3 ram, not ddr4...and ddr3 is dead tech, hence no need to spend so much on new ram.

Antech 650 truepower psu I can use
yeah, that'll do.
but better is to check, as esat mentions, what your current psu is, then could possibly mean one less swap to do.

Half dozen different series of those from total garbage time bombs of 15 years ago to modern pretty good ones five years ago.
So need more accurate info to tell quality.
If it's 80+ Gold then it's good.
80+ Bronzes were performance wise mostly low end already in 2010, though with good capacitors.
