Hi All,

posted a few months ago about my new soon to be Rig, time as passed Computex has happened and so im back. Looking for a advice on anything. is it worth waiting for before i Splash out? im not in that much of a rush since winning the OCUK EasterEgg PS Competition and winning a 32GK850F 32".

What i'd like to know is can anyone give me insight into what might be a better option. i do lots of 3D Games related Maya work and sometimes when not working my weekends or late into the night enjoy playing them. Also I do Photoshop concept work as well so colours are soe what important. Budget : 2k for the rig 1.5k for the monitors

never expected to win the 32GK850F 32" which is a nice VA panel but I can see its Flaws with the viewing angles to the edges / off centre so i think for me a LG 27GL850 27" 2k IPS seems like the way to go. i am also looking at the Gigabyte AORUS AD27QD 27" as it has good reviews / features. is there any other 27" displays worth a look in the coming months?

the 32GK850F being 32 inch feels too big tbh and it does not seem that clear to me i am concerned by the PPI on this one. its FREE so i'm not complaining at all :) but my next ones would need to be Crystal clear so the LG 27GL850 27" does worry me a little but love the build quality and its understated look of these.

im still debating the be quiet! SILENT LOOP 360 its very big and may have conflicting size issues with the ram on the motherboard with the case as stated here
however i would prefer a water block to help air flow and cleaning aspect of it rather than a fan. Thoughts?

Rig so far :

Monitor(s) 3x LG 27GL850 27" UltraGear™ Nano IPS 1ms Gaming Monitor x3
Case be quiet! DARK BASE 700 RGB MIDI TOWER CASE
CPU CORE I9-9900K 3.6GHZ (COFFEE LAKE) SOCKET LGA1151
RAM 32gb VULCAN T-FORCE 32GB (2X16GB) DDR4 PC4-24000C16 3000MHZ DUAL CHANNEL
GCard GEFORCE RTX 2070 WINDFORCE 8192MB
PWR Supply Seasonic Focus Plus 850W 80 Plus Platinum
CPU Fan be quiet! SILENT LOOP SUPERIOR LIQUID CPU COOLER - 360MM
Motherboard Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro Intel Z390
HDD M2 Samsung - 970 Evo Plus 1 TB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive
OS WINDOWS 10 64-BIT WINDOWS 10 64-BIT
Thermal Paste Arctic Silver (probably)

So Please help me out, is now a good time to buy since computex has been and gone?
anything good come from computex that i should wait a few months for?
should i switch to an AMD CPU?

Super thanks in advance

Paul

Per most current advice, you'd be better off waiting just a little more to see what the Ryzen 3 pricing will be set at, you're likely going to get a better bang for buck with them so I'd wait. I know I am.

OK so there might be a price war about to start. no doubt Ryzen3 will be competitive. Always bought Intel though before. What about anything else to look out for?

VA has superior contrast and deeper black, but that black crush causing gamma shift is sure often noticeable in darker colours.
And even with A-TW filter IPS again has its more limited contrast.
Monitor development has been really crappy for ten years with yet nothing approaching CRT's contrast and viewing angle...

If you have dusty room radiator is likely to be even worser in collecting dust than heatsink.
Loose fin spacing heatsink would likely collect least amount of dust.

OK so there might be a price war about to start.
12 core/24 thread 3900X is priced against 9900K.
Though don't expect Intel to lower prices until people stop lining up and bending over for buttrape.

Intel wont drop prices, and Ryzen has gotten a little more expensive - and rightly so, no need to undersell themselves and with UK most likely is more expensive due to Us being in the UK and always paying more , and the pound being Weak against the Dollar !

@PaulW your listed rig should be a beast BUT! 3D work, depending on program and if your rendering and if rendering is GPU or CPU based !

if GPU based, then 9700k and RTX 2080!

if your able to wait till 7th of July, and your QUICK to order then ryzen could be a good shout, Aorus x570 Pro Board will be ever so slightly more expensive then Z390 Aorus Pro but uppingin features!

having used Bequiet AIO's and Coolers in all of their cases, you'll be fine with that ram and cooler combo :)

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,903.54 (includes shipping: £14.70)

Well i had a budget :P , AMD has just blown everything out of the water now . glad i waited though. will probably wait some more till the dust settles. Eye watering Giga PCIe 4.0 MB's prices

seems pointless going Intel now.

As its stands this is my new list, subject to change as new things become available and reviews come out. if i am gonna splash out then I might as well do it properly :) .
things i am still looking at:

What the 3950x will be priced at.
if Samsung at going to release a PCIe 4 SSD as it seems pointless buying the last gen SSD and bottle necking the system.
Not sure on the Ultra AORUS yet. mostly getting it as it has wifi and lots of PCIe 4 slots. eye watering price for a MB though. (Recommendation welcome for other versions but i am staying with Gigabyte)
Might drop to 32GB ram and put the money into a PCIe 4 SSD and get more ram later ( but it is cheap atm and word is prices are set to climb next year for RAM so dunno.)
Not going for a AIO now, sticking to a fan after seeing lots or failed motors videos. the Dark rock pro 4 seems like a good piece of kit and saves me £100.

LIST:
AMD - Ryzen 9 3900X 3.8 GHz 12-Core Processor
Be quiet! - Dark Rock Pro 4 50.5 CFM CPU Cooler
Gigabyte - X570 AORUS ULTRA ATX AM4 Motherboard
Team - Vulcan 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3000 Memory x2
Samsung - 970 Evo Plus 1 TB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive
Gigabyte - GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8 GB AORUS Video Card
Be quiet! - Dark Base 700 ATX Mid Tower Case
SeaSonic - FOCUS Plus Platinum 850 W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply (i already own this so may swap it out and save a bit of cash)
Microsoft - Windows 10 Home OEM 64-bit

LG 27GL850 27 x3

not bought a PC in 7-9 years so i think i can spend a bit more on something i use everyday and is a tool to make me money in the long run.

Exciting times, but not for my wallet :p

any advice or recommendations / saving money advice welcome

P
