Ships under attack in the middle east

The Front Altair (which sank) is owned by a Norwegian company and carries a Marshall Islands flag. The Kokuka Courageous is owned by a Japanese country, and carries a Panamanian flag.

Iran has denied responsibility.

Who initially accused Iran?

Nobody. Iran denied responsibility pre-emptively.
as said above no one and iran are probably just getting their speak in before the finger pointing starts.....from the article,

This latest incident follows allegations from the US that Iran used mines to attack four oil tankers off the Emirati port of Fujairah last month.

Watch some ships being struck by a Torpedo on youtube. They make a real mess and cut the ship in half, so unlikely it will still be afloat.

Tanker hulls are not going to be as strong as a military ship either.

It's already been confirmed that the tanker sank.

Why would Iran attack the Japanese ship while Shinzo is in Tehran for peace mediation?

Anyone producing anything other than a neutral position on this will be very transparent.

I'll give it two hours until this becomes an armchair general thread, filled with military geniuses and munitions experts.
it's started already....lol

What is the source on it sinking?

Iran.

GENEVA, June 13 (Reuters) - The Iranian news agency IRNA reported on Thursday that the Front Altair, an oil tanker damaged in an attack in the Gulf of Oman, had sunk. Earlier reports had said the tanker was carrying 75,000 tonnes of naphtha, a flammable liquid hydrocarbon.
