Had the micro-ATX version of that board between Friday and Saturday. Was fine for an overclocked 9700K. BIOS was easy to flash, and easy for a mild overclock: 5GHz all core, -3 AVX offset, 1.224v Vcore, LLC Mode 4. HWiNFO64 reported the mosfets at 43C max during Cinebench R15 which is similar to most gaming temps.
Once entering "Expert mode" in the BIOS, the layout was more familiar to me (same layout as for Z87) and less confusing than the Easy/EZ mode.
No issues running Kingston 3333 DDR4 and lowering command rate to 1. Though that's an easy one for Intel chips/boards, as it might be for Ryzen 3XXX and X570/B550.
Fan control was good, the SYS_FANS were only DC but allowed very fine-tuning of voltage (10.04v, 10.18v etc etc) to get the case fans exactly where needed noise-wise. The PUMP_FAN was PWM and CPU_FAN was Hybrid (Auto-Detect, PWM, DC). Look into that for the ATX version in case you want PWM or Hybrid all around. For the build I did wasn't an issue because all case fans were 3 pin fans.
There was one minor obstacle - installing Mystic Light for the ARBG. The basic download doesn't work as it should. Instructions are to install Dragon Centre, which was fine. And then in Dragon Centre you see the Mystic Light button. Click that and it says downloading, but no progress and it never works. Others have reported the same issue. It does work by going to Live Update within Dragon Centre, hitting Scan, and then choosing Mystic Light from the list. And the app worked fine for me.
The Gaming Edge ATX didn't so well in reviews with 9900K and overclocking when it comes to VRM temps. Same would hold true for the micro-ATX. So if you'll be using a 9900K and overclocking I'd aim for a better VRM motherboard like the Gigabyte Elite
@tamzzy mentioned (or the Pro for better fan control options, as going on what
@orbitalwalsh mentioned to me the fan control on the Elite will be similar to the Gaming Edge). Or waiting for Ryzen 3XXX. Otherwise, the Gaming Edges (micro and ATX) have nice features. I'd go with the micro version again if it was needed for a similar 9700K build with Wifi and ARBG header etc.
