Hi ocuk

I've sent back a 2080TI to be RMA'd
ocuk have sent it onto ASUS but... apparently, are 'unable' to chase this up and ocuk have to wait for an outcome.

I understand the policy states they will get back to me within 28 days, but it's been 50% of their stated period without a single word of where my card is in the process.

If OCUK are unable to chase this up, why do these RMAs need to go through OCUK in the first place, why couldn't I go direct to Asus for an RMA?
Also, I'm pretty sure there are some sort of tracking details OCUK are able to query to someone at Asus to find out what's going on.

Can someone assist?

I guess ocuk can't tell you what they don't know. Ocuk are normally really good with RMAs so I'm sure they are doing everything that they can for you.

Asus are known for not really being the best at with customer feedback.

I understand that.
But suggesting they can't find out, seems a bit disappointing. With the buying power of ocuk - you'd expect better.

yeah mate the rma process is crap but ocuk will sort you out they did with my 2080ti rma .

Just for the record I sent my 1080ti RMA to Nvidia Monday this week 17/06. This morning (20/06) I got a shiny new 1080ti FE delivered.

Yes mate they did have faith in them the customer service is Exellent had a gigabyte arous extreme bought it at launch it started black screening on me sent it back asked for a new brand so got a zotac .solid as a rock . Good luck with your rma should be sorted soon .

Asus have a bad rep with RMA and considering they charge the most for there products ( brand ) you would expect top tier RMA service with it. Gigabyte and EVGA offer the best RMA services. I don't buy Asus anymore for that exact reason, Poor RMA service.

True.
Nvidia and AMD have the best turnouts when comes to issues. The AIBs on the other hand, you have shining examples like EVGA and somewhat Gigabyte/Aorus, after that "Good luck" is in place.

I always thought Asus were up top, but by the sounds of things, they are down the bottom.
I find it ridiculous that ocuk are unable to query the RMA with them though... I don't understand why an RMA has to go through OCUK if they are not going to add any value in the process.
Back to purchasing through Amazon from now on then.

It could be worse

From what I gather, in the USA the customer generally does the RMA directly through the manufacturer - and you can wait about 3 or 4 months to get a replacement GPU back...

I've gone direct the manufacturer with a few things recently:

Bose - new item within 4 days, with that item being sent to Germany
BeQuiet - new item within 6 days.

Asus - 15 days - not a single word.

Do not buy Asus look at the soundcards over three years and no drivers and look at the warranty as well. There are only three players in the entire GPU sector EVGA Gigabyte and Zotac. Send Asus packing fellas spread the word and it shall be so.

Asus does have a reputation for being bad at RMA service. They come through eventually but are really slow. In addition they look for any excuse to decline RMA. I’ve seen an example of someone who made the tiniest of scratch on the vrm shroud of a ASUS mobo when installing a soundcard. Later the mobo died and the RMA was declined because of the scratch on the shroud.

The most recent for me was going through Dyson for a new power adapter. I waited about 6 weeks for a replacement, so yeah not the best service from them either.

I've literally just bought a Strix OC 2080 Ti so I am hoping I don't experience any issues :p

Although I've bought from that place that basically replaces broken products for new ones in the first year so if anything goes wrong hopefully it'll be in the first 12 months!!!

Overclock the crap out of it - then stress it on Unigine benchmark at 8k Ultra. If it’s going to die this will make it come much sooner

So, the plan is to artificially limit the life of the card for what reason?

Let’s say it will last 4 years under normal use but now it dies after 2, what use is that to the buyer?

I know you’re making a point about stressing the card to “test” it and that if it dies within a year he gets a new card BUT what if it doesn’t? What if the stress manifests itself as a card that dies in 18 months or at best he gets a replacement card next year... is that really a win? :o

I'm only going to be buying EVGA and Zotac in future as I've had two 1080tis fail in two years and with just a two year warranty I'd be out of pocket £700 now if not for the 3 year Nvidia warranty. I'll also be buying from the retail jungle as the customer service I get from them is the best I've ever got by a country mile. They even refunded an air filter from 2014 that died two years out of warranty. An Asus X99-S killed my 5960X which they of course wouldn't accept. Sky high pricing and appalling customer service is an interesting business model but not one I'm ever willing to support again.

How did your x99-s kill your cpu? I have one so interested

Asus customer support has an absolutely terrible reputation. For me, I was getting useless responses from their customer 'support' team on a Z97-K motherboard. Eventually I just got fed up and sold the board.

Hope you get it all sorted out soon.

There's a really nice looking X570 mini-DTX motherboard from Asus, but it being an Asus product is really making me think twice as to whether I'll go for it.
