Do these PC parts work well together?

Hi all,

I’m preparing to build my very first gaming PC. Nothing fancy; it’s mainly for indie games, and some more graphically extensive games on low settings. I’ve got a list of parts together I found on Amazon, but not sure how well they mix together, or if I’ve made the right choices. The list is as followed:

AMD Ryzen 3 1200 Processor with Wraith Stealth Cooler - YD1200BBAEBOX

ASUS 710-2-SL GeForce GT 710 2 GB DDR3 Low Profile Graphics Card for Silent HTPC Build - Black

Thermaltake CA-1G7-00M1WN-00 View 27 Mid Tower Case with Shaped Side Window - Black

Corsair CMK8GX4M1D3000C16 Vengeance LPX 8 GB (1 x 8 GB) DDR4 3000 MHz C16 XMP 2.0 High Performance Desktop Memory Module, Black

Kingston SSD A400 Solid State Drive (2.5 Inch SATA 3), 480 GB

Corsair VS650 650 W Active PFC 80 PLUS Certified Power Supply Unit - Black

MSI B450 TOMAHAWK Socket AM4 ATX Motherboard for AMD Ryzen Processors

And that’s what I’ve got so far. Also, i have the monitor, keyboard etc sorted, but is their anything else I’m missing when it comes to inside tower parts? As I said, I’m a total PC building noob, and wanna try make this go as smoothly as possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Friendly heads up, you need to to remove the links before the mods see them - OcUK doesn't allow competitors links on its forums (just list the component names).

Spec does work together - but best to give us a total budget and let us spec you a bespoke system - and you can either buy whole spec from here or shop around for best price.

So, what's your maximum total budget and the games that you will mainly be playing?

My apologies, i've went ahead and edited the post.

My budget is anywhere between £200 to £400, and at best i'd probably like it to be able to play say, Overwatch or Fortnite on low to mid settings, preferably over 30 FPS. And maybe some emulation, like N64 and Gamecube. Thanks for your reply!

@tamzzy - I had a different case and mobo, no prizes for guessing :)

OP - 2400g build best option for your budget, decent igpu and will pair well with a better discrete GPU when you can afford it.

lol :P

actually 3400g is the best, and it's literally round the corner...
unless OP needed to buy tomorrow, waiting a few weeks for better performance would be worth it in the longer term.
3400g launching at 149USD...which should equate to £140-150 excluding etailer gouge...

Well, i'm in no hurry. Need to watch me another 100 PC building tutorials before reassuring myself i can even do this anyway lol. So i'll go ahead and wait for the 3400g

Thanks for the help guys, much appreciated. :)

what tamzzy said ^^^

to issues with using cheaper b450 board with it rather then brand new and VER EXPENSIVE X570 boards.

Bios to run it . MSI B450 AC is £115 , comes with wifi and allows you to flash bios without having any CPU installed via USB . this is ATX board so slightly bigger

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £130.49 (includes shipping: £10.50)

Gigabyte offer to collect and flash owners boards for free is board is bought and doesn't have latest bios on it .

mATX board isn't as good as MSI and lacks wifi but is cheap and smaller slightly

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £84.89 (includes shipping: £9.90)

better board then the above and MSI is Aorus itx (made by gigabyte). again smaller but roughly same costs as MSI but VRMS - specially SoC which is used for internal GPU of that Ryzen 2400/3400g chip are better !

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £126.49 (includes shipping: £10.50)

Gigabyte has the better warranty , just as this man @GIGA-Man but MSI has the better bios

Hey guys, I plan on buying some of those PC parts tomorrow.

One more question though, in regards to bios as the above post mentions. If I did go with the cheaper b450 board, what problems would I encounter? I’ve looking a little into the bios process, but I’m still a little confused about the whole thing.

List all the components you're thinking of buying - especially which CPU you've opted for.

Pretty much all the components tamzzy recommended for me:

1 x AMD Ryzen 5 2400G VEGA Graphics AM4 CPU w/ Wraith Stealth Cooler= £139.99
1 x Asrock B450M Pro4 (Socket AM4) DDR4 MATX Motherboard= £70.99
1 x Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB (2x4GB) DDR4 PC4-24000C16 3000MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black (CMK8GX4M2C3000= £38.99
1 x TeamGroup 480GB L5 Lite SSD 2.5" SATA 6Gbps 3D NAND Solid State Drive= £49.99
1 x be quiet! Pure Power 11 300W 80 Plus Bronze Power Supply= £44.99
1 x Kolink Aviator M RGB Micro-ATX Gaming Case - Black= £38.99

Still in two minds whether to go with the 2400G CPU or the upcoming 3400G however

If you opt for the 3400G (i would for the sake of 2 weeks) - you will need to request that OcUK flash the BIOS to the latest release - so that it will accept the Zen 2.

I would also advise that you buy all components at the same time - as if you have a problem you will still be within the 14 day swap out period, if you have difficulty identifying faulty component.

And if you have the additional £18 this would be worth the extra (out of stock so would need to be sourced elsewhere unless they have a lead time - ring) for Zen 2, and possible future upgrades:

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Pick up the Corsair CX 450W for £44.99 elsewhere. Better value for money and warranty. And if you ever play more demanding games that require a GPU you'll have more options.

I'd probably wait for the 3400g tbh.
If you do decide to wait, I'd probably get the gigabyte board that orbital Walsh linked, because if you need a bios update, gigabyte will do it for you.

Pick up the Corsair CX 450W for £44.99 elsewhere.
That's a good deal. Better value than the bequiet PSU in my spec.

Couldn't see it mentioned earlier. The 3400G will also come bundled with the Wraith Spire cooler, whereas the 2400G comes with the inferior Wraith Stealth cooler.

The 3400G will also have a soldered IHS vs 2400G's regular TIM.

I actually own the 2400G, but would recommend getting the 3400G instead as it does look like a nice overall upgrade based on the spec.
