So in yet more "Hollywood has run out of ideas" news we've got a rehash of both Charlie's Angels (70's female detective trio, re-done in 2000) and a WW2 classic from the 70's retelling yet again the most important naval battle in the pacific, Midway.
Charlie's Angels - I really liked both the original and 90's redo of Charlie's Angels, with both having a trio of strong women who didn't see femininity as a weakness and used it as a strength to beat (mainly male) criminals yet the trailer for the new remake just looks so bad, with 2 androgynous actors, a gender swapped Bosley, "woke" lines right at the start etc clearly making me not the target audience the film is going for, which I'm guessing would be 17-21yo women in "humanities" colleges, which I'm really OK with but it'll be a shame when it crashes and burns.
Midway - I liked the 70's film but you could see the lack of SFX/Action budget hurt it a lot with it having to re-use so much "ToraToraTora" footage amongst other films like "the Battle of Britain" too (the budget went on the all-star cast instead) so I was hoping this new CGI version would at least look the part as the fairly small "A-List" cast means the wage bill should be quite small. However it looks awful, almost video game cut-scene bad in places so I think this'll be another crash and burn which, as a WW2 naval film buff, is a huge shame to me.

) - I'm genuinely surprised that they haven't made one or more of the Angels male!
