Bluetooth headphones only work when inches away from pc

I have now tried three different brands of Bluetooth headphones all work perfectly with my iPhone as intended.

However when I try to pair/connect them to my Asus Strix am4 itx x470 mobo they only work when placed inches away from the pc and cut out after I move them a foot away.

Really odd, tried drivers and same behaviour with all 3 headsets so must be a conflict.

I have no other Bluetooth devices attached to mobo but have a 2.4ghz wireless k and a
Wireless (2.4) remote starter button.

The bluetooth drivers that you installed were directly from the Asus support page?

Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, but do you have the antenna attached?

Yep those drivers.

No antenna attached! Oops! Isn’t that the WiFi antenna though or does it work for Bluetooth too?

Bear in mind too that having the antenna at the back of the PC, behind a grounded metal chassis, if it's under your desk in a corner... Can be bad for signal too.
