push pull fans on AIO?

is it worth using a push pull set up on AIO's?
I get that would move more air but do the AIO's need that much air through put? or would it be best to run single fans but with a high static pressure?
 
Short answer: In general, it depends on the radiator. AIOs tend to come with the right number of fans to suit their rad. Denser fin spacing needs higher static pressure/higher fan speeds. Thicker radiators do as well, and benefit more from push/pull.

As a direct comparison, if you were to add a (matching) fan to a given AIO, they could develop greater static pressure working together. So you can run the fans slower for the same cooling.

But as said it depends on the fans and the radiators. It's important to match fan type with your needs - if you want lower temperatures or denser radiators, expect louder fans. Consider push/pull to buy back some quietness or even lower temps.

For low fan speeds you'll need less dense radiators and possibly push/pull on thicker radiators.

I put an extra set of fans on my AIO for one main reason, and one secondary

Aesthetics, to fill the space between the radiator and the top of the mobo, and secondly, I got the fans I wanted on a good (MM) deal.

If I got any cooling benefit then that would be a bonus.

Couldn't discern any noticeable difference but I didn't do any before or after testing.

But it made my case innards look better so it was worth it for me.
 
Yep, it drops like 2-3c as an absolute maximum.

I've always ran single fans at a low rpm and had great temps.

Yeah I tested it myself one. Measured temp idle and gaming with one fan, then put two fans on and did the same tests and difference was 3c but just left them on. Like is said it depends on thickness of the radiator and fins. Doesn't hurt to do it.
 
The main difference having push/pull for me is that I could run them at a much slower RPM therefore keeping the noise down (as I really like near silence) and yet keeping the temperatures around the same.
 
Push/pull shows some advantage at low speeds .. simply because stacking fans increases their overall pressure rating which means they can overcome airflow resistance and flow more air, espeically at low speeds where a single fan has almost no pressure so almost no airflow.
