Hi guys,

I'm away with "work" and I was hoping to check in with the statues/moments associated with the fabled French spy/monkey mix-up...

I've found one through Google, on the marina but I can't find the monument one, pictured. Can anyone direct me?

Thanks.

"Legend has it that during the Napoleonic Wars of the early 19th century, a shipwrecked monkey was hanged by the people of Hartlepool, believing him to be a French spy! To this day, people from Hartlepool are affectionately known as ‘monkey hangers’."

Funny old place, i'm working there at the moment

TBF, similar events could happen in this more enlightened age (?) what with some social media idiots.
