When Teresa May backed him 100% I knew he was toast :)

Good then.

Theresa May has been forced to insist she has “full confidence” in Boris Johnson amid claims the Foreign Secretary is viewed as a “joke” on the world stage.

A highly critical column in The Times cited concerns from diplomatic sources that White House officials “don’t want to go anywhere near Boris because they think he’s a joke”.

Or when Boris Johnson, his former boss and prime minister in waiting, failed to back him. Shameful behaviour.
Why would they back him publicly? His career was over as US ambassador as soon as the cables were leaked, he can't do his job since the US administration won't work with him, what does backing him publicly achieve exactly, it's not shameful at all, its smart politics?

It is entirely shameful. It is not the individual who is being backed, it is the role that he performed. The US administration is exactly as he described - inept and dysfunctional - and he personably doesn't need significant access to Trump in order to fulfil his role. Now we have a situation where an infantile president can influence British diplomatic appointments as a precedent has been set.

The Foreign Secretary should have refused his resignation.

Difficult to back an ambassador that has made disparaging remarks about the leader of the country he is ambassador in that is also our closest ally no matter how he was found out.

The Foreign Secretary has nothing to with it. It’s the permanent under Secretary who’s in charge of the FCO.

Trump says disparaging remarks about lots of people every day. Can he **** off as well now?

He's made an assessment of his host country. That's part of his job.
Which nobody has a problem with, but he cant do his role anymore now his reputation and image in the eyes of the US has been shattered.

Simple minded folk like Yas seem to ignore this because they dont like Trump, but it's not possible for him to continue in his role. Blame whomever leaked it, you cant blame the US government from having a field day with this and refusing to deal with him anymore, its utterly embarrassing that this has leaked and shows us as incompetent and unable to keep state documents a secret.

Something so small and significant that is completely and utterly lost on Trump supporters.

Farage too "The right decision, time put in a non-Remainer who wants a trade deal with America." You could hardly make it up !

The amount of people expressing that he got what he deserved because of what he said, in secret governments documents. Idiots.

But if we dont stand by our Ambassadors in times like this how is any Ambassador meant to do his or her job? Any leak could see them driven out.

Its hardly the crime of the century and is obviously an accurate assessment. Trump.would have found something else to whinge about by the end of the week.

Lets not kid ourselves either, the directive came from Trump not to deal with him.

His administration could have dealt with him still, and any other administration likely would have, had any other President been in charge.

The diplomat quote was slating the entire administration, any other administration would have ostracised them, absolutely kidding yourself if you think otherwise.
