Hi,
my another go (had to postpone buying my 2nd gen Ryzen PC) at upgrading my i2500k. PC will be for gaming, photo post-processing and potentially VR. At the moment I am considering staying at 1080p although haven't picked a screen yet.

AMD - Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor
Gigabyte - X570 AORUS ELITE ATX AM4 Motherboard
Samsung - 970 Evo Plus 1 TB M.2-2280 Solid State Drive
MSI - GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER 8 GB VENTUS OC Video Card
Fractal Design - Define R6 ATX Mid Tower Case

RAM?
PSU?

Any thoughts please?

Don't forget to claim back £30 steam voucher via Aorus Review promo ! Link on Mobo section :)

Also push Gigabyte Gaming OC of you can for extra year warranty for 4 years over MSI 3 :)

Check out corsairs UK shop for 3600hz ram for £90 odd .
Focus or Corsair RM 650w is a good choice

Thanks. Good point about warranty. I always have been pleased with MSI GPUs hence chosen this over anythig else.

Re PSUs- since posting I narrowed it down to RM650x or Seasonic Focus so it is comforting that you are recommending these as well.

I also looked at Ryzen 3700x prices and it doesn't seem to be good value compared to 3600 i.e. price increase is disproportional to price increase so not so sure about this one. On one hand overall price is not a problem for me but obviously I don't like overpaying hehe.

My head is spinning from all the reading about components. How is that setup for 1440p gaming or VR?

There is Riotoro G2 on other sites , focus rebranded but only 5 yr warranty instead of 10 but cuts down costs.

Believe 3700x run faster off the bat with PBO but 3800x and 3700x will drop in price with Intel's 10th gen comes out. AMD need to gain Profit now and not just Marketshare. Close to intel performance to can command the cash for it .

Gamers nexus did a piece on ryzen 3600 Vs 3600x - not worth the extra cash .

With VR, not sure on that one as some are CPU intensive as well . 1440p 3600 should do well, and your not dropping 2080ti in for limiting performance .

Only problem is 3600 are the worst lot of the chips for speed as high binned chips end up in 3950x

Have a feeling Zen3 will increase clock speed and hopefully push 10 core CCX over current 8

At least from reviews the 3600 offers the best value per core and for most people it won't hurt your gaming performance, some titles may want a bit more but you probably won't notice a big difference. I'm going for the 3600 for a purely gaming build.
If you have the extra cash and would prefer not to change the CPU for a few years then paying the extra for the 3700X or 3900X really depends on your budget.
