Greetings all,

Returning OverclockersUK customer from many years back, having started from hand me downs of a dark age of technology!

A few gray hairs later and I am looking for a PC to provide standard fast load ups via SSD, storage by hard drive, excellent graphics and consistent fps on my 144hz 22'' BenQ ZOWIE XL2430 monitor.
I want to run components on stock for longevity and thus avoid overclocking.

Here is the list:

Thank you for your time and appreciate your expertise on this.

Motherboard is wrong. It is for 9th Gen Intel. You should pick up B450, x470 or X570 I suppose, so AM4 motherboard.

X570 supports new Zen2 3000-series. Older motherboards like B350, B450,x370, X470 ones need bios to be updated first what you need to check manufacturer site so it supports 3000-series CPU's.

Or variation if that Z390 is correct then you need to choose Intel processor of 9th gen.

ah yes apologies and thanks! My first go-to was the intel core i9 but a last minute bit of research showed that the ryzen 3900x was a slightly cheaper and better model.

For 1080p... It's intel

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Rtx 2080 is place price holder for Gigabyte RTX 2080 Super

£700 and 4 year warranty

Ryzen based . 8 cores is plenty for a good while

Thanks a lot Orbital, will go over these list thoroughly.

I see that sound cards are obsolete on a casual level given the advancements of motherboards.

As for the wireless adapter was it suitable for the i7 build and should I go for a lower priced model?

wifi card used in the z390 board was flagship AC model, which is about £34 to buy as an Add In Card .

x570 features the newest Wifi 6 Standard of AX

board is more expensive and a good step up from Elite ^^

aorus boards have best audio normally with DACs as well :)

again RMA for gigabyte is in the UK for both mobo and GPU unlike MSI

Are you sure you need a DVD drive? If you really need one I suggest getting an external USB drive and take it our the draw as and when you need it.

Gotta say. I'm still a guy who wanna DVD drive for own computers. I do not see any issue of it. And yes other side of a coin I know that most of people let that DVD drive away and prefer to use USB instead.

You don't need a sound card these days: the onboard sound is more than good enough for gaming.
You might look at the new Cooler Master MasterBox Q500L with better fans.
If you're going Ryzen for the long term, get a motherboard that supports PCI Express v4. This generation of GPus don't need it but the next may, especially if you add a 10 Gb Ethernet card.

Actually AMD 5000-series (5700 and 5700XT) uses PCIe 4.0 at 1st time at GPU market.

Edit. I believe because PCIe 4.0 is opened GPU side and as well M.2 SSD side with Gigabyte. Future those will come in every Motherboards.

The MasterBox Q500L does look rather on the compact side, the PSU is located at the front too, very different.

You doing anything else apart from gaming ? as a 12 core is overkill for that.

With a £2K budget you could more than likely fit in a 27" 1440p 144Hz TN or IPS screen if you fancied moving from 1080p. Obviously it would mean dropping the 12 core cpu.

Interesting Orbital, more research on the mobo, thanks.

no worries

Great case recommendation, you're giving me too much research now! Regarding the fans, is the difference in price largely for the rainbow LED? (and brand). I'm not sure what the functionality for LED's on fans is.
Regardless the Bitfenix fans look of decent design and at a fantastic price thanks.

Mainly RGB, but then brand, design also adds cost .

People either love or hate RGB . Want cheap or expensive so bit of both above
