Hey guys

I game at 3440x1440 on my Ryzen 2600 with 1x16gb 3600 CL16 ballistix AT on my b450 tomahawk.

I could resell my vega 64 and get the 5700 XT for like £80(?) difference.

Alternatively, could upgrade from 2600 to 3600.

I mainly play BF5 and RS6 siege. My main problem is from bf5, hoped upgrading from my 4670k to a 2600 would make a difference, it didn't.

Which upgrade would get me more FPS? They both cost the same.

Wait for AIB 5700 XT GPUs to release next month.

I mean according to hardware unboxeds benchmarks, you're looking at a 15% boost.

Have you tried increasing power limit, undervolting and overclocking core and ram?

Also a single ram stick will bottleneck your Ryzen 2600 as you aren't in dual channel.

Upgrading to a 3600 or any CPU will get you negligable boost

I forgot to mention that I already own the Arctic Extreme IV, which is confirmed (?) compatible with the XT. I don't wanna put it to waste but will the AIB's push down the XT price? It's only £330 from AMD directly right now.

It's only 330 if you don't pay VAT.

The 5700XT with an aftermarket cooler id take over a Vega 64 for a £100 outlay but you've got your prices messed up.

Plus 20% VAT added at the end.
Wait for AIB if you are going to use air cooling. Ain't worth half measures.

Your main problem is running a single stick of ram. That's madness!

Secondly, going to a 2600 was never going to be much of an upgrade. Definitely consider a 3700x.

Until you fix that, the gpu switching won't do much for you at all. Those 2 titles are VERY CPU heavy, and sadly it's also a case of picking which you want to focus on. Turing crushes R6S, while AMD crushes BF V. So up to you which you want to focus on.

Ryzen GEN 1. 1+, and 2 systems are dual channel design. You are running it at single channel. Ryzen GEN 1 and 1+ are hampered by slow RAM and loose timings. How much more with a single stick.

What kid should I pick up? I got my 3200mhz cl16 crucial AT e-die kit, i will have to return and replace it with a 2x8gb kit. any good deals going on?

4 threads to 12 threads with better singlecore isnt much of an upgrade?
2600 is more than enough for 1440p or above, its his RAM causing the problems. I play BFV with a average 120~fps with a 2600.
3700x wouldn't make much difference at that res with a V64. Maybe at 1080p with a 2080ti.

OT no its not worth it, V64 on the flea market goes for >£250, add in fees and you're paying nearly £200 for 10-15% performance. Just get dual channel ram, undervolt/oc and wait for the 5800XT if you need more GPU grunt, but I dont think you do your system is just handicapped from the single channel RAM.

What res are you playing at? 120FPS sounds like 1080p. I want to remind you I am 3440x1440.

I'll grab a dual channel kit and try it out. Got any recommendations?

Just grab another stick the same as you have, no point selling and changing, you'll just lose money.

Probably won't be able to do 3600 though when you go dual channel as it's harder on the memory controller.

Yeah I'll lose money but it'll still be cheaper. Another stick is £90 I could grab a 2x8gb kit for £70 and sell my current stick so barely a loss
