Irrational rage from slower vehicles at traffic lights

If brake lights blind you, I would have your eyes checked. Could be an underlying issue if light sources affect you so much.
But then there's a reason the highway code says you shouldn't sit on your brakes when at a stop for exactly this reason so obviously the powers at be agree that it's irritating.

But the highway code has failed to keep up with technology, in the cases of both headlights and brake lights

We discussed to death numerous times, auto brakes as they are using the normal brakes and not the handbrake keep the lights illuminated
Legislation that refers to input wattage and not light output is no longer fit for purpose as it was based on incandescent light output

My brake lights are extremely bright to the point they are brighter than even most rear foglights and having sat behind the same car in the past at night can understand how it can become an eyesore after just a few seconds looking forward at them. These are lights that came out in 2003.

if i was sat behind your car. and i thought the lights were bright. then guess what. i would look away from the lights directly. it's not rocket science. after you have moved off i would then either keep a suitable distance, change lane or overtake you.

That's all fine in theory, but it's actually easier said than done to not be distracted by extremely bright lights. It's the deer in headlights phenomenon, obviously not that extreme but that's what it is. The very reason rear view mirrors have auto dimming or dip function so the glare doesn't distract whilst driving from headlights behind.

The problem is not in looking directly at the lights. Nobody does that.
The problem is the glare those lights create and the need to see past your vehicle, which is made difficult to the point of being unsafe by said massive glare.

i've never had any issues with brake lights i'd like to see these lasers in action.

Sit behind any facelift E46 non saloon at night if they've got the brake pedal touched during stoppage.
