Hi all,

I flashed my BIOS to F5k, which resulted in a system that refuses to boot to Windows. I copied F5g to a USB drive, renamed it to GIGABYTE.bin and used the grey port to flash my system back to the last good BIOS. Sadly, my system still won't boot to Windows.

Any help would be appreciated.

and used the grey port
Could you clarify the port you're using if using Q-Flash Plus - as it should be the white port.

Also, make sure you follow all the steps on page 73 - in addition I would suggest clearing the CMOS and freshly formatting the pendrive to fat 32 (preferably below 16GB or different pendrive to the one you've tried) , before the flash and be sure that you've unpacked the BIOS before renaming it to GIGABYTE.bin

Also, did you try the below first?:

How to fix corrupt BIOS ROM with BIOS Switch (BIOS_SW)

Please follow below procedure to fix corrupt BIOS ROM that not physically damaged:
  1. Turn off the computer.
  2. Adjust SB switch to Single BIOS mode.
  3. Adjust BIOS switch (BIOS_SW) to the functional BIOS.
  4. Boot up the computer and enter BIOS mode to load BIOS default setting.
  5. Adjust BIOS Switch (BIOS_SW) to the non-working BIOS.
  6. Flash the BIOS by using Q-Flash.
  7. Reboot and confirm if BIOS is working.
  8. Shut down the computer and adjust BIOS Switch (BIOS_SW) to original BIOS.
  9. Boot up the computer and confirm BIOS are working properly.

Thanks for the reply.

I followed the qflash instruction correctly again this morning but my system still refuses to boot to windows.

I've tried every bios switch combination but nothing gets me to my desktop.

One thing I did notice in the manual was a reference to the main bios not being flashed if a cpu is present. I wonder if I need to remove the cpu and attempt another qflash?

Is it possible for a flash to cause a hardware failure?

Do you know if flashing the bios will result in overclockers refusing to honour the warranty?

A flash gone wrong can indeed brick a board but the warranty should still apply. They can't really void a warranty for a failed bios flash when the manufacturer has several versions freely available on their website.

One thing I would try before going down the RMA route is to remove the cpu and everything else from the board, stick the usb stick in the white slot on the rear I/O panel and use the Q-flash Plus button to try flashing again.
