The England Cricket Thread

You just knew this team would collapse before today even started, shocking to go from such a dominant position to a crushing defeat.

I don't listen to your predictions anymore.....the other week during the World Cup Final all you did is put down their chances on numerous occasions throughout the match, totally giving up on any optimism.....and what happened?? :p:D

England and sport is crap and brings nothing but disappointment.. This will probably be a 5-0 drumming as i've seen nothing from this team which leads me to believe they will a game never mind the series..

Well played Australia. Fully deserved after regaining their balance on Thursday afternoon.

Might that be the last time we see Jimmy Anderson in an Ashes test?

Smith and co should never have been picked again to represent their country after the way they cheated but you've got to hand it to him he's been excellent both innings with the bat.

Nice start to the Ashes for us. Hope it continues!

Broad's a cheat, and he's never been dropped once.

Are you talking about when he edged it and didn't walk?

Not sure how you can compare something that happens all the time including yesterday when Australia were into bat with using sand paper on balls...

Strange comment, were you disappointed they won the world cup then mate?

Another one of these? Jesus wept. Smith & co aren't the first ones to tamper with the ball, and won't be the last.

England admitted doing it in '05, Faf Du Plessis has been caught doing it but didn't even miss a single game for it.

He broke the laws of cricket and admitted his crime, ICC would have banned him for one game but Cricket Australia stepped in and banned him for so much more and now he's served his time and deserves to play again.

Yep. He even admitted that he knew he'd edged it. So you can't claim it was a mistake. He blatantly cheated.

Cheating is cheating. You're just trying to excuse one type of cheating while selectively condemning another.

Don't forget that Broad and Anderson both tampered with the ball in 2010 against South Africa (using spikes of their boots on it).

And as you've already said, England is infamous for the old mint trick (as Trescothick openly admitted three years after using it to win the Ashes in 2005).
