Coolant 2 colours??

Any idea why my purple coolant is looking red in the Res?

What exact coolant is it? Also how long has it been in the loop before it changed like that?

It was built in November 2018, had thermaltake c1000 red in. Changed it today for ek cryonaut purple

Ah, so it's likely you didn't manage to get loop completely cleaned out before putting in the new colour?

I put 7.5ltrs of deionised water through it and was coming out clear?

Did you shake the rads, maybe a few small pockets of liquid got stuck, like you get with air bubbles? Maybe someone on here has had the same experience can chime in?

Is the red just in the Res only?

Working now, wierd.

What lighting are you using, looks like UV from the picture ?

UV will make non uv purple look like that - try a standard white led

Tried white led and no led. Definitely red at the bottom of the Res. The Thermaltake reservoirs aren't glass, some type of plastic aren't they? Wonder if it's leeching colour or if the previous colour has stained it permanently. When I drained the red coolant out it was a horrible colour. Thought my temps were better but my 7920x at 4.6ghz is hitting high 80s to mid 90s on prime95. The pump is on 5 which is the highest setting and definitely moving the fluid around quite quickly.

I know 7920x run hot and need delidding but didn't think it would hit these kind of temps with water-cooling.

That does seem pretty high although I dont really know what standard is for those chips. Have you checked the block mounting/thermal paste aplication?

My purple coolant looks slightly red in the res too, and mine was a brand new loop so no staining.

Weird isn't it. Going to be using glass tubing when I rebuild so might even get an EK Res as they are glass. May rectify it
