Vega 64 nitro Vs 5700

surprisingly tough choice for me, performance is basically the same. Much better cooler on the vega 64, but it needs it. Also better cooler 5700s just around the corner. Vega 64 is also way more power hungry if that matters to you.

I'm guessing Radeon Image Sharpening (with scaling at 0.7x-0.8x) will give the 5700 a decisive advantage over the Vega 64, assuming people are willing to turn it on.

Edit: Not so sure about RIS with 1080p though.

Not running native resolution to stick a sharpening filter shouldn't be seen as a positive in this instance.

As to the OP's question, I can't see any as being a negative solution.
I'd just as happily pay 300 for the Vega 64 toxic as I would 380 for the reference 5700XT.

If RIS is as good as I've been hearing, then it certainly could be. Reports of squeezing out an extra 20%-30% FPS at next to no image quality loss sounds like a fantastic option to me on higher res displays. It certainly puts DLSS to shame it seems.

I think it's more aimed at using a 4K TV and running 1440P and RIS as you're further away.
I certainly wouldn't want to lower my resolution to sub 1080P and stick RIS on.
I'd rather use RIS at my native resolution as I have done.

Is this RIS similar to how consoles achieve good picture quality when not running at native resolution

V64 is faster & quieter. This RIS babble is absolute nonsense. Way too easy to hype features to absurd levels. Besides you can always use Reshade CAS for the exact same visual result with ANY card, all for the price of 1 fps less.

At 1080p as well V64 undervolts superbly, was testing it a few days ago in BF V and was holding 120 fps unflinchingly @ 150w (normally for 4K I give it room to go above 320w). All while staying <70 C & never going above a whisper quiet 1400 RPM.

Wait for the custom 5700 cards to arrive, and then get one of those. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the Vega 64, but I'd want a bigger discount now that Navi is here.

V64 isn't faster than a 5700XT.

If you do go for the vega 64 nitro plus it’s a very long card make sure it fits in your case. Epic cooler comes with a brace for a reason :p.
