Why is the 2080 Super no cheaper in the UK?

Yes I know we always get shafted in the UK but all tech reviews, print or videos, are saying how at least the 2080S with its modest bump in power is $100 cheaper than the outgoing 2080.

Yet all 2080S cards i've seen are basically the same price as the 2080 was?

Best value arguably comes direct from NV itself with an FE card (wow, what a sentence)

Anyway i'm holding out till 2020 for 3000 series/7nm, Big Navi and maybe Intel in context with Cyberpunk 2077 being around.

Are we expecting RTX to improve price wise as 2019 draws to a close? My GTX 1080 is clinging on for dear life at 3440x1440 (should have plumped for the 1080Ti lol) and probably has less than 6-12 months of AAA title relevance with details on high >80fps where I like to be.

I seriously doubt Nvidia will do anything on price on a product basis, what they may do is release a new product with less features for less £££ or make a price/perf adjustment with the next series.

Like many of us you basically need to skip a generation to get anykind of value.

Do what I did get a good 2080 which will be one or 2 frames below a 2080s

Ie the Zotac extreme 2080 is one frame below the standard 2080s and only 3 frames below the extreme 2080s

It's a bargain price on overclockers at the moment. According to reviews it's around 15 % higher in performance than a 2070super. So for me who was going to get a 2070s the extreme 2080 should get me a nice frame rate boost over the 2070 super I originally wanted

I am an existing 1080 gtx owner

VAT really isn't helping the already ******** conversion from dollars.
The recent drop is going to have a big effect on us. once the stock runs out on the stuff bought at the better rate, we are gonna see a solid increase in price.

I'd guess the 2080S stock was purchased near the recent collapse and are so the first major new stock run to see the hit.

Exchange rate has made little difference in the past. Even when it was 1.4 and up we still got ripped off.

It's the excuse used to push prices even higher (but then not drop them when things improve). A bit like petrol prices.

Exactly. I haven't seen decent prices for UK consumers in years. The latest excuse is Brexit, but I wonder what it will be once Brexit is over? Global warming? Rising sea levels?

Some places still blame the recessions so I guess they will be blaming "brexit" for years.

Good point. The recession was more than a decade ago, so they can probably flog the Brexit excuse until at least 2029! You'll probably need a mortgage for computer hardware by then! :p

Keep on the delusion train folks...

Where has any company selling PC hardware blamed a recession 11 years ago for current poor pricing?

Of course the drop in value of the pound has pushed prices up, it makes imports more expensive.

Nvidia are obviously price gouging Worldwide, because they have no competition at the top level.

But that's a different point to what you and Nasher are currently arguing.

I game at uw 1440p, and decided on the 2070 Super in the end, as its mostly only 2-3 frames slower than the 2080, i was waiting for the 2080 Super, but after seeing that thats, only about 1-2 frames faster than the 2080 non Super itself, i just thought it wasn't worth the extra, in fact, non of the 80s are worth it now, its either go for a 2070 Super, or go for a 2080Ti.
