who fancies a mondeo ST220 Police Interceptor style ?

Nice, new brake "pipes".

Would probably want to check the condition of the muffler bearing.

Cars typically have numerous brake pipes (in the engine bay, in the wheel wells, under the chassis, etc.). The seller could mean hoses/lines, alternatively. In any case, not a statement that immediately raises an eyebrow. :)

It Will have not lead an easy life by any stretch of the imagination , not to mention it’s priced along the lines of “as seen on tv”

I’m always sceptical of a car when a selling point mentioned in the ad is that it starts! :p

Also it’s highly unlikely to be directly ex Police given its age (no force keeps front line cars for any great length of time) so the “appeal” of it being meticulously maintained is somewhat diluted already in my eyes.

And knowing a few Police officers and a former workshop manager for Staffordshire Police it’s notable that none of them would buy an ex Police car!

Great cars, but not that one for me thanks.

I'm not sure I'd buy any car from someone who can't work a full stop button. I'd also never buy an ex-cop car so this is a double no from me! :D

would take a punt quite happily but not at that price,

half that money and i'd be seriously tempted as a runabout

Police cars are usually well maintained, but think of it like having 40, not so careful previous owners. On the upside, there are cars where I'm not sure the oil ever really gets cold during their entire lives in the Police.
