New build suddenly died

Hello all,

I have recently just put together my new PC. Consists of:

Brand New
3700X
X570 Gaming X
16GB Team Group DDR4
512GB 970 Pro OS drive (not new new, purchased second hand and did full health check on this, came back at 100%)
Various SSD's (from old build, all within two years old, 99+%)
Leadex 650W 80Gold PSU
Asus Strix GTX1080 (bought from MM on here)

Now, the PC hasn't been overclocked, temps running at about 55/60 for CPU/GPU. System suddenly died during a gaming session on Cities Skylines.

I've reset the CMOS, tried one RAM stick at a time, new PSU, new GPU.

Once I power on, everything lights up, fans run. I get no display at all. Motherboard fan is running at 100% and the system will not switch off via the case power button. At a bit of a loss what to do, and I'm starting to think its potentially the motherboard thats gone wrong, as the M2 died in my work PC two weeks back without such symptoms.

Thanks for any help in advance. :)

Yeah, I had thought of onboard then remembered that. Unfortunately to no avail with the third GPU I found (fanless 8400GS for the giggles :p)

I have seen other mentions of this, with identical symptoms, all on Gigabyte X570 boards. They're bricking for some reason, sometimes when you tweak the settings and save them, sometimes on the reboot. Mine has well after, whilst in use. :(

Didn't think of that! My 560Ti won't support UEFI either. Shall give that a go in the bottom x16 slot.

And yes, I gave the CMOS about 15 minutes before putting the battery back. :)

Graphics cards in the bottom slot had no effect.

When I tried my other PSU, the only drive connected was the M2 drive. Should I try without that too?

Can't get anything off it at all...

Disconnected everything. Battery out. Will return to it at about half 11, and if I still get nothing when I boot it this time, I'm declaring it as motherboard. 11 bloody days since it arrived. Less than that for time built. :(

There's no Gpu on the 3700x. do you have another card to try?

Sorry, you have tried another gpu

There no on board graphics for the 3700x?. I didn't no that. I dont use on board for my i7 6700k what I got now but its a good back if anything happened to gpu. At least if GPU not working you can still use the internet to sort it out.

I'd suggest cutting you loses time wise, and remove it from the case. Test the board and CPU with a single RAM stick and your GPU with both of the PSU's on the bench, nothing else attached at all, don't connect any USB devices or peripherals, also short the PWR_ON with a screw driver no cables connected.

The above post is good, there could be some potential short against the case somewhere.

My money would be on the motherboard also though, sorry :(

Yeah, I still haven't got back to it, but I will be testing it this was later on. Thanks for the help all :)

Totally dead. Unresponsive to everything I've tried and once powered on, nothing. Looks like a return process shall begin.

*currently out of case. Both PSU, all three GPU (in both slots), single RAM at a time, nothing in USB, no hard drives connected, no other expansion cards. Literally the board, CPU (with cooler ofc), RAM and GPU. CMOS reset doesn't respond, as does nothing on the board. Battery was out for over four hours.

See if BIOS flash back works.

I can't get it to respond at all, so cannot try that.

The more I've investigated this, the more I'm seeing Gigabyte boards doing the same, although usually when tweaking settings in the BIOS (or flashing) and dying upon reboot. Rather putting me off just getting a direct replacement.

Thanks for adding the details, been out and about so don't get time to do that.

Let's hope it works for the OP. :)
