Our old corded Vax is starting to struggle, it's started randomly cutting out too, so it's time for an upgrade, and I'm thinking that cordless is the way forward.

Any recommendations for up to around £300 please? Cheers.

Dyson, ive got a v6 is perfectly fine.

You will get loads of people telling you that the one they use is best etc etc, just buy one from somewhere with a warranty that you like the look of, and if you have pets as you say then get one with a powered head and your sorted ignore the toot on here.

We have a V6 Animal (£199 refurb IIRC) and for a few months I was greatly impressed with it compared to hand helds I'd used before. But one day I got our £50 VAX somethingorother out of the cupboard to see what I might be missing with the V6. Turned out to be a lot (we have a permanently shedding Border Collie).

I still think the V6 is great, but it's our great 'quick whizz round' cleaner, and I do get sick of the tiny container clogging up with dog hair very easily. The Vax is a pain with the cord, but it inhales deeply attached junk more quickly and only needs emptying at the end of cleaning.

Many folk have done away with corded altogether. I don't see that ever happening for us while we have dogs and carpets.

And just to be totally different, I've ordered a corded Miele Complete C3 Cat & Dog...

Had mine 3 years and is still superb. Can't beat a bagged vacuum. I chuck a new filter in every 6 months or so, keeps the place smelling fresh. Cut the hair/other stuff out of the agitator every couple weeks to keep it rolling nice.

Good to hear, my son is quite prone to allergies as he's asthmatic, so I thought that going back to an old school bagged machine would help keep the dust confined.
