Watercooling fittings...in hand luggage?

What are the chances these will get confiscated?

22 fittings. Ordered from OcUK to my address in Portugal, the shipping is 30GBP - or I can send it to my Dad whom I am visiting next week and take advantage of free shipping.

The question is, I only have carry on/hand luggage. Has anyone taken a bag of fittings through security before?

So it’s going to cost you 30 quid to have them shipped to you in Portugal, then you haul them through security. Or get them shipped to your dads for free? I know which option I’d take. Also, can’t imagine any reason they’d be confiscated. You’re not going to be able to take over a plane using some watercooling fittings - unless you’re real name is MacGyver! Maybe keep them in the packaging with the packing note from OcUK just to be safe, in case you come across an over zealous security guard.

Sorry maybe I was not clear.

I live in Portugal. So my options are, post them here to Portugal for 30 quid, or ship them to my Dad in the UK for free and bring them back with me in hand luggage next week. But the risk here is security staff.

EDIT: Checking TSA website, nothing on there indicates anything towards the fittings saying it would be restrictive. You can even take a full desktop PC! So it looks like it should be fine.

Ah my bad for misunderstanding. Ship em to your dad and carry them over. But as above, keep them in their packaging with the packing note in case you encounter a wannabe GI Joe checkin guard.

Take them in your hand luggage.

I’ve taken a desktop PC in hand luggage before (Shuttle SN45!) without an issue. It’s no different to a laptop really.

WC fittings shouldn’t be an issue - if anyone asks you’ve been to a plumbing and heating expo!

You can't take workman tool, but fittings should be fine.
Tools are banned from handluggage.

What’s the TSA got to do with it? Unless you’re flying from UK to Portugal via the USA.

If the WC fittings are not stabby or clubby or explodey individually or when combined, you’ll be fine. Keep them in their commercial packaging and take them out of your hand luggage for the security check.

If there is the remotest chance that on xray it looks like a box of ammunition, then take them in hand luggage and have them easy to remove for inspection.

Your going through UK security so there are websites with info and then Portuguese security and/or customs if applicable.

Just as an FYI for anyone interested. I just went through London City Airport Security and in my hand luggage is about 20 fittings + some cable sleeving. No questions raised :-)

Should be fine. The worst scenario, I would just leave them separated, in one clear plastic bag and take out for scan as I do with coins, GPS, etc. The original packaging, even if just a zip bag with the label should help in case the person checking it is not familiar with watercooler.
