AMD Overtakes NVIDIA In GPU Market Share For The First Time Since Q3 2014 – Jon Peddie Research

Bit of a misleading headline to say the least, they had more shipments but overall nvidia would still be far ahead in market share.

It's what we've come to expect from that particular site but it's still interesting to see AMD beating Nvidia at something :p

I suppose the flat shipments from Nvidia were part of the reason behind the SUPERs, proving that the high prices were stopping people from buying nearly as many RTX cards as they would have expected.

So telling the truth is somehow misleading. AMD for years had more graphics share than Nvidia due to Apu's. If they added in console apu's as well it would look even better for them. If the headline said discrete pc gpu's then it would be very misleading as it's not true. Look at intels share on the graph. It's been this way for years although they used to do a discrete breakdown.

Oh god, here we go...The article states they overtook nvidia in market share in it's title, then goes on to say they had more shipments in a specific quarter.

So stating it like it is is a here we go :D:D:D:D:D. Come on we been on this site for many years now and John Peddie have been around just as long with the same graphs. This ain't rocket science.

Having more shipments in a specific quarter doesn't = they overtook their rival in market share, which is what the title of the article implies.

It does for this quarter which the report is about again it's not really hard.

Apparently for you it is hard, the title of the article is pure bs and doesn't say anything about it being in a specific quarter, it just flat out states they overtook nvidia in market share. Just a clickbait title.

Note it states since q3 2014 in the headline and in the article it's reporting on q2 2019. Man seriously give AMD a win :D:D, it may free your mind from Nvidia a little. Nvidia can't win all the time. If it helps Nvidia are still demolishing AMD in the discrete sector.

Still means nothing, the title is the point i'm making that is pure clickbait.

As for "freeing my mind from nvidia", i've had a vega card for quite some time and honestly couldn't care less about the pathetic circle jerk of "brand loyalty" that so many on here seem to exhibit. If it runs my games and its at a price i am willing to pay i couldn't give a **** if the card is red or green.

I miss the Ruby demos, they should do a new one once they have RT in their GPUs. I can just imagine the ray traced curves in all their shiny glory :D

Would probably be considered sexist these days ffs =/ Probably have to have an option to turn "Ruby" into "Cody" with a heavily embellished package under the spandex.

Market share is driven by shipments, specifically the percentage of total shipments across the market. The artcle isnt wrong even though it appears to want to talk about one thing and then say something else. Its poorly written, but it's not wrong ... AMD shipped more last quarter so AMD = higher market share last quarter. It doesnt mean that more people are now using AMD GPUS but then that isn't how market share is calculated anyway ...

+1 and the only way this article should be looked at. Glad to see someone else has been studying there Rocket science over the years of PC ownership.
