These are the prices i found on the Overclockers store. I am putting a custom build together on their site.

Which would you recommend for overall good performance and cooling? I will be using a 1080P monitor as well.

Asus GeForce GTX 1660Ti ROG Strix OC 6144MB GDDR6 PCI-Express Graphics Card £319.99
MSI GeForce RTX 2060 Ventus XS OC 6144MB GDDR6 PCI-Express Graphics Card £299.99
PowerColor Radeon RX VEGA 64 8GB HBM2 PCI-Express Graphics Card - £299.99
Sapphire Radeon RX VEGA 56 Pulse 8GB HBM2 PCI-Express Graphics Card £289.99
PowerColor Radeon RX VEGA 56 Red Dragon 8GB HBM2 PCI-Express Graphics Card £278.99
Sapphire Radeon RX 5700 8GB GDDR6 PCI-Express Graphics Card £329.99

If you're staying with 1080p then you really can't beat the Vega 56. For the sake of a tenner I'd go with either of them.

However, if you want a bit of longevity, go with the 5700. It's a whole new architecture and as drivers and games improve, so will it.

But consider this:

Don't know how long this offer will last, but for £349.99 you can get a 5700 XT.

At that price it is a cracking card.
Reference card is not for everyone, but at that price, I would have one myself if not for a GSYNC monitor.

to throw a spanner into the works - I would also say it depends on the monitor...

If it's a gsync monitor then I would want an Nvidia card.

If it's a Freesync (or neither) then the 5700 is a good option.

Also, depends if you are likely to upgrade your monitor to 1440p (or 3440x1440) anytime with this build? If so, then I'd probably be looking at a 5700xt for longevity.

Freesync - Nvidia is an option.

Thank you DereksDontRun and Willhub for the reply.I don't think i will be upgrading the monitor anytime soon but i will keep that in mind thanks.

Thank you DereksDontRun for the reply. So i might increase the budget to £400. Is the RX 5700 XT a newer card?

Sapphire Radeon RX VEGA 64 Nitro+ 8GB HBM2 PCI-Express Graphics Card £379.99
Powercolor Radeon RX 5700 XT Dual Fan 8GB GDDR6 PCI-Express Graphics Card £379.99

From Nvidia, the latest set of cards are the 2060, 2070 & 2080 Super range (often just called "S" - e.g. 2070S being the 2070 Super) and the 5700 & 5700XT are from AMD. They all came out a couple months ago and are thus often pitted against each other.

The Super cards are tweaked version of last year's non-super 20 series cards (except the 2080ti, which has no Super). So, 2070 -> 2070 Super which is arguably similar performance to the old 2080.

Nvidia is stronger at the top end, and command a hefty price for that... Some say it's due to a lack of market competition, forcing them to keep prices reasonable, and other say they're adding USP features (RTX raytracing) that justify the cost... Without wanting to start an argument, but I get the impression the new 2070 Super is presently their sweet spot for performance/price ratio for approx 1440p/3440x1440 resolution. The higher cards (2080 Super and 2080ti) are more powerful, but the price increase isn't keeping with the performance gain. Anything under the 2070 Super is trading blows with AMD's cards that generally cost less (thus swinging the performance/price ratio towards AMD).

Look at the benchmarks https://www.techspot.com/review/1870-amd-radeon-rx-5700/
at 1440p the 5700XT tends to be close to the 2070 Super, with the 5700 being close to the 2060 Super (and then the Vega 64 close behind)
Given the 5700XT is the same price (or cheaper) than ther 2060 Super, I'd suggest lookinf at that, for a long-term 1080p (and moving to 1440p) gaming rig. (assuming you're not wanting to ***** a load more for raytracing...)

for ref - I've got a 2070S, but if I was going to buy a replacement today, I honestly might be swayed by a 5700XT (I didn't at the time, as their 3rd party options weren't available).

If you can get a vega 56 for silly money then go for it, great great cards. If not then the 5700xt is great and newer with more tech however it aint as good price to performance.
None in nvidias cards are great price performance chips, hence why i dont recommend them now like intel and its crap overpriced nonsense either.

The 5700xt is only a few % behind a 2070s same can be said for the 3700x and the 9900k - neither of which you would notice outside of a benchmark.
