RTX 2070 vs 2080 Upgrade - Confusing price

That is the model name, not cooler's name. Its the Nvidia 2070 Super. The 2070 Super replaced the normal 2070 in Nvidia's lineup and the 2080 was replaced by the 2080 Super. There is of course old stock floating around though which means there is literally every tier possible filled and some overlapping to an extent going on.

Check benchmarks, you will see the 2070 Super actually sits in between what was a normal RTX 2070 and RTX 2080, so you get most the 2080 performance, for a decent saving looking at those two models in isolation.

Oh very interesting, been out of the loop as the 1070 could tackle most things up until now. Do you know shorthand any news on future GPUs? Not itching for an upgrade just yet but looking at options, would be a shame to drop half a G + on something that is axed in price soon.

Afraid not, most things details around now are rumours. I have seen some based on smaller Navi cards which would not be surprising to see I think.

Aside from that, just see logical guess's such as bigger Navi based cards (compared to the 5700XT) etc. Nvidia are still bringing new Turing cards (2060 Super, 2070 Super and 2080 super for example only came out this July) out and have little competition at the higher end, so think they will sit on their hands for a while yet / until AMD do something, but as I say, just some leaps here.

If you are itching for a change, would recommend taking a peek at the 5700XT and throwing that into the mix for consideration if the 2070 Super is the sort of cards your looking at.

That's a shame, an upgrade is going to be costly then but the 5700XT does look incredible. Do you have any idea what AMD drivers are like with older games now? My last AMD card was a 6850 and it was awful in almost everything I played that was older than the card itself :(

Afraid not. At least not recently, my latest AMD card was the R9 Nano which is now gone. Did not have any major problems with it and looking at most recent reviews of AMD GPU's and lack of serious complaints in recent AMD owner threads, can only summarise they seem to be pretty solid. Would pop a question though in one of the owners threads, 5700 owners thread seems pretty active so no doubt some owners may be able to provide insight, more so if its some older games you looking to play.
 
Yes the pricing is all wrong on anything above the 2070 Super.

From a 2070 Super to a 2080 it's on average around £100. Then from a 2080 to a 2080 Super another £80 odd quid.

I want to say more regarding the 2080ti but pricing talk is not appropriate here.

Essentially, the pricing is all wrong as I said above on anything over the 2070 super.

Take for example on the Nvidia website:

2060 Super: £389
2070 Super: £489
2080 Super: £689???? :confused:

If the 2080 Super was £589 this is be the biggest selling GPU of all time. (exaggeration but you get my point)

They would absolutely kill it.
