Man Discovers Original D-Day Dispatch Audiotape in Basement

e: deleted a double post of that above due to dodgy wifi connection at my end.

Wow what a find! Amazing to think these were sitting in someone's basement.

I could only get them to play from number 2, by switching to desktop mode on my mobiles browser.

There's no obvious link to audio files. Where did you see it?

The 2nd link leads you to the "audio files" and other items (click on which ones you are interested in), so click on it and follow the instructions.

Me too, so perhaps it will be fixed soon; I have just reported the problem, so just waiting on a response now.

It reminded me how I mighta not been born when my paternal grandfathers ship was sunk by U57

As terrifying as it would have been for the brave men who liberated Europe from tyranny the invasion itself must have been a sight to behold. I will have to listen to these later.

This is one my favourite film clips:

To all of the remainers please excuse the far right Frenchman waving his national flag with pride and joy at the thought of his country becoming independent of a foreign power.

My father took part in the D-Day landing and had spoken little about what transpired there, though years later he did say that the book Saving Private Ryan was something that I should read (which i did, though I will never fully understand what he went through without living it myself and it goes beyond anything you think a person can do and still retain a part of ones self after coming home). We must never forget all the lives that were lost, nor that it took the effort of several nations to end the war and not something one nation could have done on their own (Been told by a few people now that this or that nation would have been able to overcome the enemy on their own and did not appreciate a certain nation(s) from interfering).
