Catalytic converter thefts

Bold as brass, no one bats an eyelid. Probs done them a favour with that car however.

In this one, he even has a quick check to make sure no one else has already nicked it. From rolling the jack under the car to dropping it back down again, less than a minute.

I watched the video: the clamp is fitted on the pipe leading to the cat so they just the pipe behind the clamp. Or they cut the cables with a bolt-cutter.
Watch it again. The clamp only secures the locking mechanism to the pipe. The steel cables (claimed to be almost impossible to cut through) loop around structural chassis elements, so when you've cut off the pipe, the cut section of pipe it still tied to the car.

If you had a van you could make it look legit by putting some bogus garage name and wearing some high vis etc. Not that anyone bats an eyelid anyway.

You cut the pipe between the clamp and the cat. The clamp needs to clamp the cat not the pipe. And those steel cables won't last 5 seconds against a big boltcutter.

If only a person who walked past turned the handle on the trolley Jack and squashed the *******.
Nice little satisfying crunch noise. Imagine if the car just trapped them whilst calling the police they were stuck there with their legs kicking. Thinking about it, you would probably get arrested. :(

Not if you legged it :D

But that fat guy in the second vid leaves his golf open and probably running. I'd be off in that and dump it a few miles away, leave them stranded with a jack, angle grinder and stolen cat.
