Hi all

Not sure where to post this so GD it is....

Does anyone have any idea on how to play music to the audience on conference calls? We specifically use Circuit in our company. This is where we normally use headsets with mics so the external sounds need to be overplayed / “injected” somehow?

Thanks

Like hold music? Surely the conference call will have people talking.

Btw I'm so glad I don't have conference calls anymore, such a waste of life :p

Yes, like hold music, or short little sound effects, whatever I want to play.

It’s actually for unprofessional purposes, as you say I have to attend and run a lot of these due to many remote offices so spicing them up with some music whilst waiting for the latecomers, playing the eastenders drumroll when someone drops a bombshell or screws up etc.

Little things to make it more tolerable.

Perhaps look at software aimed at podcast hobbyists, something that let's you load up some sound effects like they do on radio shows.

One company I worked for we had conference calls and all they consisted of was the area manager babbling on. Basically everything we already knew from his emails and company emails.

These were the type of conference call where everyone dials in on a number and enters a pin. Not a room of stuffy blokes sat round a table with a speaker phone thing in the middle.

All of this sounds utterly awful and like a scrapped episode of The Office.

e: Read the OP's words in Ricky Gervais' voice. This is why we can't have nice things :(

I have conference calls and host webinars most days..This sounds like my idea of hell.

Good luck :D

Have to agree, I couldn't help but think of the office, I'm sure OP means well, but a lot of people would definitely see David Brent in playing Eastenders themes to punctuate 'dramatic' moments for 'comedy.' "Monkey says you're late! Here comes Eastenders! Hur hur!"

As for meetings and conference calls, I'm so glad I don't have to do them any more. As the other poster said, many clueless managers use them as vanity projects to waffle on and on and on about things their staff often know more about anyway, in some cases a lot more.
