I've had an iPad Air 2 with a broken screen in my drawer for a while now - replacing the screen is not an option due to the cost..

My Question is - do you guys have any suggestions as to what I can use it for? Surely its good for something? :)

Replace the screen yourself. You get a screen for about £20-30 and it's easy to replace if you follow a guide and take your time.

Not the air 2 im afraid. I've done air 1 and they are fairly easy to do (£8 for glass only), but on the air 2 the glass and digitiser are glued together.

That's crazy. Typical Apple in making their hardware more difficult to repair. I just assumed that since they look pretty much the same it would be the same procedure, my bad.

It's actually easier to replace the screen when the digi is attached. It's just more expensive. It means you don't get smudges on the screen underneath which is a bit of a god send when it comes to replacement device screens and fingerprints.

Last time I checked the Glass+digi replacement unit was around £200 for parts only.. It doesnt matter how easy they make it, it is just not worth replacing it at that cost.. On the Air 1, like i said, it was £8.

I have an iPad2 sitting there displaying a shack clock. It's perfectly good for that sort of thing. It's a shame I dropped it ages ago and the daylight sensor doesn't work any more so the auto brightness does nothing.

Just sell it online, you're bound to get something decent for it as ipads tend to hold value quite well.

Also, just how bad is the screen crack? If its quite minor and still usable, people will still be willing to pay for it
