EVGA 1080ti - Flicker on HDMI

My card is EVGA 1080ti Founders. If I plug an HDMI lead into the HDMI socket on the card and link it to my 4K TV, I keep getting flickering black screen. If I plug the HDMI lead into a DP to HDMI converter and then plug into the DP socket on the card, there is no flicker.

Is this hardware or driver issue? I'm suspecting hardware? Could I prove that for sure, or have I already proved it?

Yup, would try another cable. Defo not software / drivers I think, Have HTPC with 1080ti hooked up to 4K tv in living room and not had any flickering.

4K needs a better quality cable. Try setting pc to 1080p and you will find the flicker will be gone if it is the cable.

I've used the same cable, but plugged into the DP socket via HDMI to DP adaptor and it works perfectly. I thought that ruled the cable out, but will test another when I get the chance.

you may have broken the port, I have done this on my 1080ti when I pushed the PC back a bit too far and the chunky HDMI cable pressed against the wall and pushed back on the port, now it has this behaviour if not located correctly, so instead I use a DP to HDMI adaptor, should I ever take the card out I'll resolder a new port on.

The reason I say test with 1080P is because that would reduce the bandwidth required. If the port is ok then there should be no flicker at that resolution hence indicating a problem with the cable.

I would Definately try another hdmi, especially if you are trying to run hdr or high bit colour settings.

I had this and changed the cable and it worked.

Best cable I got was the cheapest ironically.
A basics cable from the rainforest that guaranteed the bit rate. I think it was about 5 quid.

Hope this helps.
