This is a post about my CPU/MB/RAM Upgrade, i upgraded my PSU and GPU fairly recently and im sure the GPU is being bottle-necked (not that ive checked but due to the lack of performance increase i have gotten from a GTX 750 to an AMD Vega 56) as you will see below. Im sure that i need to upgrade the 3 parts above and im wondering if the current choices im considering, that someone has recommended i get, are a good solution for me.

Current Specs:

CPU: i3-4160 - 3.60GHz
GPU: MSI Radeon Vega 56
Motherboard: Asus B85M-G
PSU: - EVGA 600 Watt
RAM: 2x CRUCIAL 4GB sticks

This is what im thinking, is this a good choice for me and as im not experienced is there any issues with compatability?
Total: £387.47 (includes shipping: £10.50)

A Vega 56 will be held back by a i3 4160 so the new cpu.mobo/ram will be a nice upgrade. A decent psu rather than the awful HEC built EVGA 600w unit would be good as well. The Vega gpu's also benefit from being powered by two seperate pci-e leads and not one lead with the pair of daisy chained connectors. Stability problems have been cured from swapping to two seperate power leads.

Thank you so much for this reply lol, you dont understand how much you are helping. My GPU has been crashing frequently and ive been told that my 600w PSU cant have been the problem and i guess it is (even the minimum on the box says 650w) and it is attached with a 4 + 3 + 1 so its probably both those things combined. Do you have any PSU Manfucterers/PSUs that you suggest for this build?

I would have recommended the newly revised Corsair RM series 750w which was on offer for £85 but it's out of stock on here. There are other retailers with it in stock for the same price though. Thats a very good psu which is fully modular so you only need to plug in the cables you need, gold rated efficiency and a 10 year warranty. The reason I picked the 750w over the 650w is because it's only £3 more for the 750w at the current reduced prices (OCUK isn't showing the lower price for the 650w). The 850w version is only a extra tenner though it would be overkill.

Alternatives would be the Seasonic Focus Plus 650w, Superflower Leadex III 650w, Phanteks Amp 650w but for those prices you could have the Corsair RM850w.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Ah thanks a lot! , im considering the Corsair TX-M 650w PSU for £70 do you think thats a decent option?

As long as it's the latest version built by Great Wall (CP-9020132) it's a decent psu and will do the job fine. Not quite 650w as the all important 12v rail is 612w but it should still be more than enough for that system. It's still gold rated for efficiency and has a 7 year warranty. It's only semi modular but you will be using the hardwired cables anyway. The 650w rating for the gpu is to allow for the poor quality psu's that people tend to buy.
