I'm currently using an ancient old i5 with DDR3, paired with a 1080ti. I don't game as much as I used to, and never really considered the age of the processor to be affecting anything....but the current low prices of ryzen 2600x and b450 mobos has got my attention. Reckon I'd see any tangible benefit?

What are your exact specifications, and what resolution do you game at?

Honestly though, I wouldn't upgrade unless you're unhappy with the performance you're getting.

Thanks. It's an i5 3450, on a generic foxconn board. I normally game at 1440p - but seldom competitive fps's. Most things I play I can still max out the settings of, but the only time performance has been an issue is (ironically), with Supreme Commander. I understand that's pretty cpu intensive, but I also suspect it's too old to make good use of modern CPU's, so I'm not sure I'd actually see much benefit.

differs for each Games etc but shows even AAA titles dont code well for more threads - though this is a 9900k for 4 core clock speed is 4.8ghz

but , 3600 should see you the gain, but last you the time period. 4 core 4 thread i5's have run its course
