Absolutely insane the amount of flooding from one burst water main :eek:

The amount of basement flats round that really is huge too. They will be devastated from this.

We had low water pressure as far away as Caldeonian Road because of it.

What a nightmare for those directly affected...

Damn, that would be complete cluster **** and unlike the people who say choose to live on a flood plane etc... and have to brace for a bit after heavy rains. It is rather out of the blue

Do they have a get out clause for this or are they (or their insurers) going to be faced with a bit of a hefty charge for some serviced apartment rentals, replacement of furniture and electrical goods etc.., specialist cleaning services, taxis/extra transport costs etc..etc..

Not the first time this has happened around Islington, they seem to always get hit by burst water mains. It's either Islington or the Euston area where pipes burst seemingly every couple of years.

Yeah was reduced water flow at work in Euston today, probably a knock on from the burst main which hit here 2/3 months ago. Closed our building down for 2 weeks due to all the servers being...in the basement, water actually got over the bulkhead.

At least it didn't take out gas and electricity too.

Some years back in Barnet a water main burst and the water forced its way it into a similarly decrepit gas main. This flooded the gas pipes feeding ~2000 houses. The gas company handed out electric heaters and cooking hobs which then overloaded the power grid and left a bunch of houses without gas or electricity over Christmas. I was lucky enough to be just outside the effected area.
