Always used Kingston Hyper X memory so sticking with that and also Asus mobo's so also sticking with Asus. Heard reports that Nvme drives are not that much more faster and run hotter so going with a solid 5 yr warranty WD drive. Seasonic PSU has a long warranty and over powered but i'm sticking with an 850w unit.

Going to be transferring it into a new Meshify C case with Noctua fans along with a 2070 super.

Only thing i'm not too sure on is the cpu cooler but I don't want an AIO water cooler just air. The noctua is slightly offset to give the GPU more space.

Any thoughts before I buy?

Yeah it's crap and well overpriced.
But since you intend on sticking to the brands you previously owned, then there's not a lot of room to maneuver.

The PSU is complete overkill. You should check that the cooler will fit in your case. You could save yourself a lot of money by going for an AMD B450 motherboard and a Ryzen 3700.

Add in a Sabrent Rocket from elsewhere for storage.

Here's a couple more PSU options if the OP doesn't like the idea of shopping outside of OCUK:

The Corsair unit comes with a 10 year warranty.

Dark Rock Pro 4 is on sale at the moment also, not sure how necessary it'd be for the systems in question though.

Really not sure why you're stuck on that PSU, it's utterly unnecessary.

I currently have a Corsair AX860 in my 4770k rig which is about 5 years old and been 100% solid. Before that I was using 650/750's and had a bad couple of power supplies fail / give spurious issue's so always invested by over-speccing the PSU.

A 750W is still more than needed, but the RM750 is on offer.

The SSD is just a placeholder. Google 'Sabrent Rocket' and you can get the 1TB version for the same price as the Team Group.

Arctic Freezer 34 esports duo is a good cooler for the money. You don't need anything better for an R5 3600.

I just need a reliable PC that is going to last 3 - 5 years and be at least double the CPU speed of my current 4770k system. The 65W 3600 CPU appeals to me as i'm not overclocking and it uses less power and heat.

For the build you're looking at a good 650W PSU is already over-speccing, you could run it on a decent 550W unit and have room to spare. The only reason I listed the Corsair 750RM above is because it's on sale and at a really good price, it's still massively overkill for the system you're looking at.

Do the Nvme drives run hot? and not much faster than an m2 ssd? Will be using it just to put Win10 on it and then a 1TB drive for games.

An NvME drive like the one suggested is a hell of a lot faster than a standard SATA drive. Whether or not it's a difference you'll notice when playing games or under most workloads is another thing entirely, chances are you wont. Regardless, when the cost for the higher speed NvME drive is the same as it is for a SATA drive you might as well opt for the faster solution.

I wouldn't be concerned about drive temps either.

I did originally spec a 480GB Corsair MP510 but I heard reports of the drive running so hot it throttled down and caused stuttering in the OS ?

Shouldn't be an issue. If you were doing heavy workloads i.e Video editing etc then it would run a bit hotter. For gaming it will be more than fine. The Sabrent Rocket is available in a 512GB version if you don't want 1TB.

Also if thermal throttling was ever an issue you can buy cheap heatsinks like the one below.

keep your existing PSU, still top tier and should have 5 more years left on it . 5 Years time, design should be improved from now etc

wanting intel, ditch the asus board, master is better designed

as above, sabrent rocket for £109 but then reseller handles RMA for product thats not EU based

heck even amd 12 core for £1k

bit of fun but overkill !

I think i’m going to hold out awhile to see when the release date for the B550 chipset is. The AMD 3600 looks like the perfect processor though. Double the speed of my 4770k and uses less power.

Managed to buy an EVGA G3 850w power supply for £115 which has a 10yr warranty to put towards the build.

If B550 is going to be delayed after January then I will buy the Gigabyte x570 elite mobo.
