Would you not be better off getting 2x 16 GB sticks of RAM?

I don't know actually, are smaller sticks faster, does the Ryzen work best with 4 slots full? These are things I've read today without fully understanding the reasons. Do you believe 2 x 16gb is better?

Not sure the NVMe is really worth it, seems you can go for slightly cheaper/slower one and not really notice it - although I have no personal experience.

The Aorus Pro is the board I really wanted, but after reading the owners thread and a few others on here and elsewhere I was put off.
There seems to be a lot of BIOS issues and bricked boards - shame as it looks a really well built and nice featured board with a solid vrm.

From what I've been reading regarding RAM, 3600 is the sweet spot (for affordability) and 16GB is sufficient for current gaming.
Personally, I'll be getting 32GB for a bit of future proofing, but 32GB of 3600 is expensive and limited in availability - so it depends on your budget and requirements.

I've also been looking at the Crucial Ballistix Sport LT which was recommended to me by an0nym0us - If it has the AES part number it is Micron E die which seems to get very positive reviews, but it is 3200 C16.

There is a TomsHardware article on this https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-ryzen-3000-best-memory-timings,6310-2.html

Which seems to suggest Ryzen 3000 does work marginally better with 4 ranks, but presumably if you go for larger 16GB sticks they will be dual rank anyway - so you would be able to do that on two sticks.
I understand it is quad channel is the issue, so 4x 8GB sticks would be undesirable.

I think you are more likely to find the faster sticks in smaller capacities.

I'm still finding my feet with this, but going through a similar process for my build.

two lots of dual channel memory doesnt make it quad channel does it?

so I’ve specced 4x8gb dual channel? That’s 3600hz c16 which seems to be a good spot in the bar charts

There are four slots available, but it is dual channel - so for optimum speed you need to be using one slot on each channel - i.e two sticks.
You can use four, but you may struggle to get anything over 3200.

Channels aren't the same as ranks - you can have multiple ranks of memory on one stick.

Yep, four sticks running in dual channel mode.

Less modules populated on the board means there's less strain on the IMC of the CPU. Which means better overclocking results usually. It also gives you room to expand in the future.
Also many Ryzen boards have a daisy chain topology, meaning that they favour two slots being populated.

On the other hand, all slots populated does look better to most people, but it's subjective. The ram could also be moved onto a board that supports quad channel in the future to get the benefit of four sticks.

PSU is a solid choice but it's expensive and is overkill really.

unless money is no object you could spend a lot less on something that will do the job just as well.

There are new all black chromax versions of that cooler. Same performance, but just looks better.

Thanks already went for it and placed my order, found somewhere I could get the 3900X for Wednesday and I need to get back up and running asap.

I even chose a more over the top PSU because it was in stock..
Not bothered about internal looks anymore as it'll go beneath the desk and I don't want RGB as it'll illuminate the lounge during cinema time!
