Hi, ive just bought my new gaming pc however i want to get the most from my graphics card before i start playing story mode games ( i also play fast paced shooters). I am currently using a AOC 24 inch tn pannel with 60mhz 1ms. Would it be worth it to upgrade to a 1080p 144mhz? Could my graphics card get near them frames? Would the picture quality improve? I am happy with the graphics in battlefield in ultra but i seem to get a slight screen tear now and then and the screens slightly blurry.

My pc specs

Ryzen 5 3600
16 gb ram
Msi tommahawk motherboard
Palit GTX 1660

A G-sync monitor (too expensive, normally) or a Freesync (gsync) compatible would be pretty good.
I found this feature as essential, after trying it for the first time. And more so when the GPU starts to fall behind the 60fps mark.

@orbitalwash - really? also interested in this answer. Recently put together a similar new build: https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/gaming-and-video-encoding-pc-around-1000-or-so.18866165/ and using a 1660 with 1080 60hz displays (monitor and tv).

Was under the impression i'd need to have a vega 56 (something like that) to make good use of a 144hz monitor. But you're saying the 1660 will perform well with a 144hz monitor?

would be good - not looking to upgrade displays at the moment but interested in the answer/recommendation with one eye on the future ;)

@Tyrion2 its a 1080p screen.
gtx 1660 sits in between a vega 56 and rx590. you won't hit 144fps max settings on more recent AAA titles...but that is what freesync/gsync is there to help with.

so, i gave in :rolleyes:: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/asus...-gaming-widescreen-led-monitor-mo-09t-as.html

was going to go with the one mentioned above: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/aoc-...ync-led-gaming-monitor-hdmi-dp-mo-04v-ao.html but, watching some reviews, reviewers said it's very good but with a couple of reservations. Also asus 27" was at a very good price a couple of days ago (£230). Gsync was auto recognised, just needed to switch to 144hz in the nvidia control panel.

Yes, I was a little worried that with a 27" monitor at 1080 i'd be getting some pixelation with text (browsing, excel, word), but, so far, all good :), at least in my perception.

I got a 27in 144hz 1440p monitor so I can have the best of both worlds, I run 1080p 144hz for fps games as my Gpu won't do it at 1440p also with Gsync off to reduce Input lag, then for solo story based games I run 1440p @ around 75hz with freesync/Gsync enabled. Gpu is a 1070ti.

144hz is definetly nice even at 1080p, going from a 60hz it felt like a great improvement.
