Hi Guys,

I currently have a cheapo off brand 240 AIO on my 8086k @4.7Ghz (all cores).

Temps reach around 80c when all cores are maxed, and reach 99c when i OC to 5Ghz(all cores) at which point it starts to throttle.

I want to upgrade my cooling to something that will handle 5Ghz on all cores, i would ideally not spend more than £150 but willing to go higher if needed.

Do you have any recommendations?

Thanks.

Most AIOs offer similar performance and the parts used are similar, the temps sound high to me - are you sure it's mounted properly, decent paste etc?

What one do you have?

Yeah the temps sounds high to me as well.

I have a GameMax AIO 240mm

it was the only thing my local shop had in stock when i was building my system.

I am using Arctic MX-4 thermal paste, and i have re-seated it twice, both times the paste was perfectly applied over the whole IHS.
I have even gone so far as to LAP the heat block on the AIO, i got it to a mirror shine, which did drop temps a couple of degrees, but not what i am expecting from a 240mm AIO.

Thanks.

What about case airflow? What are the Gamemax fans like? Where's it placed?

Also wozzsta and Webzta were you separated at birth? :D

So i have 3 x 120mm fans sucking in air at the front of the case, the 240mm rad is on the top with the 2 x 120mm fans blowing out, and a final 140mm fan on the rear blow out also.

Here is a couple of pics for you to see.
