I am getting compatibility warnings when I add a B450 board to a Ryzen 5 3600 CPU.
The board needs it's bios updated apparently
How do you manage to update the bios?
Does the pc still boot up when first switched after it has been built even though parts are not compatible?

The only B450 boards that will work out of the box with the new Ryzen chips are the MSI "Max" boards afaik. You'll need to flash most if not all other b450's, although I believe some will allow you to do this from USB without having a CPU installed.

As @Gray2233 says, the MSI Max boards will work out the box with Ryzen 3000... I think a couple of Asus boards have a USB flash option but others will require Older Gen CPU's

As mentioned above, the MAX boards don't need a bios update. The MSI B450 Tomahawk MAX or MSI B450M Mortar MAX if you need/want mATX are both good options.

I have added the MSI B450 Thomahawk MAX ATX A4 motherboard to my build and still get the same warning
“Some AMD B450 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Matisse CPUs”
I assume I can ignore this warning then

A few members on here have had the MSI B450 boards with the new Ryzen CPU... Maybe worth doing a search and read up but I'm 90% sure all things have been fine

Yes the website still gives the warning whatever B450 board you choose, does the same on my build aslong as it's a MAX board it will work out of the box with no updates needed.

Yes you can ignore the warning. You can actually see the 'AMD Ryzen 3000 Desktop Ready' on the Motherboard box on MSI website if you want confirmation :)

Solid build in the main. If it was me I'd switch the SSD you've put to the sabarent rocket £109 maybe up the the PSU to 650 watts for some headroom a good unit like below. I've also heard some bad things about the airflow in that case but others with more experience would be better off advising.
