I'm selling my beloved 57 plate Mondeo 2.5T Titanium X after 6 years as I've started working from home full time and it's only done about 2k miles in the last year.

It had an engine rebuild about 3 years/25k miles ago which I see as a real positive - it's been running beautifully ever since and it also had the block mod which addresses a known cylinder liner failure issue with the engine. It should have way more longevity than a 102k mile Mondeo normally would. However, would this scare people off or not?

would really depend on who carried out the rebuild and if theres proof.

home rebuild- with the best will in the world will scare buyers off. reciepted build by a known engine builder or tuner would be a positive imo especially given that these cars are more likely to be chased down by enthusiasts who will know about known issues. if theres proof thats been adressed then it makes it an easier sell, although wont really add any value unfortunately

As above, it'll sell better in the modified scene as it's got the block mod. Something a lot of potential buyers will look for and understand what it is. In the general car sales scene, nobody will know what that is.

Your average punter would likely be out off thinking it means it’s unreliable. To anyone that’s investigated the car and engine thoroughly would likely see it as a positive. I’d list it tbh.

Yeah that'd be a positive for me, it's a bit more of a niche car anyway so quite a lot of buyers might well be aware of the 2.5's shortcomings so having a rebuild with some strengthening mods can only be a good thing.

I double a buyer who was just after a 2.0 diesel Mondeo would be buying that car anyway.

Yeah, an average punter isn't going to be looking at a 2.5t Mondeo :D
