Had a new clutch and dual mass flywheel today following what I will describe as a ‘burn up’ towing (pushing) a 1475Kg caravan in reverse uphill along a wet/muddy track. £2900 from Kia so done at an independent for £1250!! I thought this was a £4-500 job. Car has 63K miles on the clock. How much have you spent on a clutch!?

I looked on a popular european car parts site...... £1004 for a Sachs DMF on this vehicle.

Most mechanics get significant discount on that. A prime example was front brake discs for my old car, even on ecp they were 350 each. The specialist I used cost me 300 for two fitted.

Yeah nowadays you almost always replace the flywheel as part of a clutch job on a diesel anyway. i'd guess at around 300ish for the clutch kit and probably 500ish for the flywheel as they are really expensive. So to get it done for 1200 seems very reasonable for a big 4x4 SUV.

Definitely. T’was an 8 hour job. Subframe, prop shaft, transfer box, etc all in way... all out so could get to gearbox.
In that case I'd actually say it was pretty cheap considering that's knocking on the door of a grand in labour alone.
