I bought My Corsair K70 lux RGB back in September 2017 from Corsair EU store, where I paid €159.99 while it was on sale, about a year later the keycaps became extremely lose and would come off from simply typing, so Corsair Kindly accepted RMA and cross shipped. Now again a year later and one of the backlights died so I contact Corsair again and spoke with a support rep called Adrian Monsalve, he kindly went through some steps to solve the problem before finally agreeing that yes, it’s a hardware issue. The agent then informed me ‘The warranty will be based on the original; purchase date. Having the product replaced doesn't refresh the 2-year warranty.’ It’s a completely new keyboard, why wouldn’t it??

Now keep in mind this led started fading a few months ago, it started during the summer but wasn’t too bad so I just lived with it, until over the past three months it got to a stage where its practically not lit at all. So yea I should have just asked for a refund with the original as the second didn’t last much longer and. So now I’m being shafted, because of product failure that was no fault of my own. I have used corsair products for two decades, but this marks my last. Not good enough.

So now I need recommendations of a nicely switched keyboard, I tried a razer the other day in-store and quiet liked the switches

Hyper x alloy elite
Logitech also do nice boards

This isn't the first time Corsair have failed QC. Loads of reports of keyboard leds failing.

Yea that Hyper X caught my eye alright, also like those Logitech ones, G815 I think? but I've never tried their switches before. The Razer one I tried in store was a Black Widow Elite with green switches, felt nice to use

I never get why people think when something is replaced under RMA that they should get a new warranty. Why should you?

You buy a product and they guarantee to provide you with that product for a certain period, say 2 years. Why on earth should each replacement come with a fresh 2 year warranty? I get it's annoying as hell but think about it logically. I know some companies do refresh them but that's a goodwill thing, not something to be assumed.

Not defending the poor QC you have suffered from btw, that in itself isn't great I know.

I've got the Corsair mx reds and they're the same as the hyper x ones my bro has. It will be my replacement when my Corsair dies. Really nice keyboard mate, worth a shot for sure.

Because I Paid €170 and both failed only after several months of use, it's easy to talk like that when you're not the one footing the bill

Yea I really like it, just don't like the huge hyper X logo, I will definitely try and find a store so I can try, I prefer brown switches as I tend to double type with red a lot

Fair enough. I have reds and home and blacks at work but never had an issue with that. Browns are nice though and I'm sure they do mx browns as well.

The warranty guarantees you that your purchase will be free from defect etc etc for X amount of time. If it fails, they replace it. By your logic the keyboards could keep failing and you could end up never having to buy a keyboard ever again. Warranty is ALWAYS from the initial purchase, if you aren't aware of this then you've been educated.

If you have it in writing that they have accepted that there was a manufacturing fault, then you will have no problem in the small claims court... a keyboard should last for longer than that... and we have a 5 year gaurantee in the UK.

Eh? "We" have a 5 year guarantee? For what exactly?

The keyboard comes with a 2 year guarantee and there is no such thing as a 5 year covers all UK wide warranty for them or anything even remotely similar. Retailers can offer longer warranties but that is entirely down to them, it has nothing to do with an UK specific rules or a standard 5 year guarantee on the UK models.

Im not from the UK I'm from Ireland it even states as much under my name, it wasn't purchased in the UK either, and consumer laws are different here . Edit: I just noticed you were referring to someone else sorryhttps://europa.eu/youreurope/citizens/consumers/shopping/guarantees-returns/ireland/index_en.htm . I informed Corsair of this and as of 2 hours ago have approved my rma. I'll be sure to take a picture of it just for you when it arrives

And I didnt reply to your message in terms of the 5 year warranty, I was replying to the one I quoted which explicitly mentioned a 5 year warranty. Two separate conversations.

*EDIT**

Just noticed your edit too :) haha

5 years scotland, 6 years resk of the UK Sale of Goods Act offers protection against faulty goods even when the manufacturer's guarantee has run out. The act says goods must last a reasonable time - and that can be anything up to six years from the date of purchase.

A keyboard should last longer than it did, and the seller has admitted that there was a manufacturing fault.

What are their switches like tho I have only ever used cherry switches in the past
OK well I found the Corsair KBs quite loud, Browns, Blacks and so on, but I find the Ducky KBs are not like that....but I think to be honest it's a personal thing , ie my wifes KB which is supposed to be "quiet" is really loud to my ears .

Yea I bought my girlfriend a Ducky One 2 Skyline with mx blues and I love that keyboard, very satisfying to type on. I had a K60 with reds before the k70 and found it to be better built, to be honest, better keycaps especially, corsair cheaped out on the k70 caps. I really like that razer are using built in stabilizers on their keyboards now
