Suggestions for best Bluetooth/FM Transmitter

If you have AUX in the glovebox but your 3.5mm jack on your phone is broken, then you don't need a FM transmitter, just a Bluetooth to AUX adapter.

I bought this last year:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00KON1JIA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It plugs into the AUX socket in your glovebox, and then you can connect to it via Bluetooth from your phone. No FM needed!

It works well enough for what it is, on my '55' Ford Focus with AUX

I recently bought one of these for my 54 Mondeo. Needs to be coupled with a ground loop noise isolator to avoid picking up interference from the cars electrics

I took this option instead of a new head unit, and am very happy with the result

It's the best option for sound quality yes. I inferred to mine because you brought up your mates one which also has zero relevance.

Pioneer for £65

Not really, I was comparing his because we both had the same speaker set up and there was zero difference in quality between an FM adapter and cheap head unit. You've missed the OP's point anyway so no point going any further.

My point is. You are better off with a head unit because the fine for being caught fannying around with a transmitter is more than the cost of a proper installation. So why not just get the best solution possible which does everything for you?

Ignorance is bliss though.

There is no fannying around with an FM transmitter. I've been using an Anker Roav for the last 12 months.

Get in the car, Bluetooth connects and Spotify etc starts playing.

Theres a pause/play button and skip buttons on the transmitter that I can press without taking my eye off the road

How long does the battery on something like that last and can it be plugged into a USB socket and just left on all the time?
if you have a dual output cig anker usb socket, you can plug both your phone and the device(in glove cmpt) in, when you set off.

Quality wise fm theoretically has better bandwidth than the standard phone bluetooth connection too, and had used that prior to direct aux-in.
(something like 192Kb/s aac versus 128 BT... ) unless you have AptX, and obviously current DAB is worse than the lot.

If the 'faffing' was a reference to the new recent proposed legislation about using phones in cars for music playing,
I've not understood if that just means don't get distracted from your cradled phones' screen, like you shouldn't, too, from an inbuilt screen ?
yes with a new head unit - not convinced you can get somehing of cars quality for £70, at all; then via AndroidAuto etc you can access the media on the phone without touching phone

A £40 bluetooth equipped aftermarket unit will be absolutely *****.
Having had four cheap Chinese head units with bluetooth (some single DIN, some double) in different cars, the Bluetooth for both calls and music is absolutely fine.

Well I received my VicSing BT FM Transmitter today, fitted it and got ot connected within 2 minutes and all is well with the world. Sound is on par with my old aux cable and 1 less wire to worry about. So now all I need is to hide the phone charger wire.

@jpaul are you happy with your alpine? Would you recommend it?

Sorry for being off topic.

I'm looking for a new stereo and I'm leaning towards alpine.

The thing is I've read good and bad. Most review sites cover the good and downgrade the bad. I've read some buyer feedbacks as well and that put me on the fence. Do they ship real melons?

After searching the net I've found a better review. A bit harsh finally one that seems to tell it how it is. What do you think about this Alpine ILX-207 receiver? How bad are the drawbacks?

How hard is life with just one USB? What about the screen resolution is it a pixel war?

Tips?

Sorry for being off topic.
have a look at this earlier thread where we discussed, prioritizing audio quality I might still go alpine, but these maybe better value with other features too ... screens ....

The Dynavin units uses upgraded amps and Burr Brown OpAmps so are better out of the box than a lot of off the shelf stereos from name brands Dynavin units cost more though and are geared towards Apple device users sadly.

Hi,
Ive been down this road. Brought endless bluetooth devices from Amazon, trying to find one that works well, and is easy to use.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0719QW13K/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I discovered the above. Connects to phone / stereo via a configurable frequency. Battery last for ages. means I can play music from my phone, in the car, and able to skip forward, back at a press of a button as the unit can be held. means I can move it from car to car (although I brought 2 , 1 for each car).

Be aware though, power socket is delicate. So I carefully charge it, then it lasts most of the week ( I use it for an hour a day on the drive home )
