Ford Mustang Mach-E

Then we need legislation to force/encourage a reduction in size of cars put all these battery cars on a diet and we will need less batteries, less charge points and less modification of the grid.

Max size something like a Focus? Force Range Rovers, 5 Series and Model S’ off the road?

Would save a lot of space.

I’m not sure I’d go with a max size but maybe a tax based on weight/efficiency/size it has worked for controlling car choices in the past with everyone going diesel and now hybrid. Helps when they get the company car tax right to force people into certain vehicles.

in my lifetime the size of the average family car has gone bonkers!

That’s a little different, and as you say, what’s already happening. It hasn’t really stopped the ever expanding car waistline so far however!

My Range Rover is shorter than a Focus :p

There in lies the problem with trying to force things based on car size... :p Suddenly you force all the modern saloons off the road and push people into modern CUV’s, which a little ironically are more similar in shape/size to old saloons.

No oneis forcing anyone out of saloon, the markets have done that all Infentives spoint to better efficiency which comes with saloons but customer desires lie with SUVs.

which saloons are sub 4.4m ?

it's 'ing ludicrous. the average Mini is bigger than my Golf, and there's someone who parks at work in an old, proper, Mini estate/clubman/whatever - it literally looks like a kid's toy next to all the others, even an Up!.

and don't get me started on new houses STILL building garages to those old sizes, there's 4 new estates gone up around my area and they wonder why they all get choked w/ cars.

I’m not physically meaning forcing people off the road - just pointing out saloons are way bigger than they were in the past (while pointing out CUVs are actually smaller than most of the cars they replace - counter to the assertions of many anti CUV types).

People voted with their wallets, and I’m sure - as you say - they’ll do so in future. If that’s the case then it’s a shame, but so be it. Hopefully if they do car manufacturers will make cars shorter again.

Name aside, this is £15k cheaper than, and 90miles better range than Jaguars I-Pace, which is my current favourite when I make the jump shortly.

Still have another year so will hope to see a 4 door version in that time, but promising indeed.

Edit: just seen the inside. Not much boot space really.

The price will need sales tax added unlike U.K. gta has VAT as default

The mach-e is a 5 door. The GT is more like the I-PACE in terms of power awell.

I bet it won't be that price in the UK if it ever gets sold here. They never are :/

The quoted prices are pre-tax so no it will not be. Everything in the states is quoted pre tax because the rates vary from county to county and state to state. There is also a 10% tariff on imported cars if it’s built in the states.

Oh for some reason I'd recognised it as a 3 door. That's something.

Good point above also re:final sales price. Still though the range is encouraging.

Have a look at the Tesla 3/Y pricing, if it’s built in the states, that’s the sort of difference you can expect here.

Silly question, has Ford said there is going to be a RHD version launched in the UK in a reasonable timeframe?

Over here there a law that makes a vehicle over 2ton restricted to a lower speed limit then one that weghts below 2ton
Max speed limit over here is 35mph for vehicles under 2 ton and for vehicles that weights over 2 ton it only 25mph

It maybe 2.5ton and not 2ton I have to look it up to be 100%

Edit: https://gov.gg/roadsafety
The Island currently has a maximum speed limit of 35mph.

A motor vehicle exceeding two tons unladen weight 25 mph
