Hi, I'm looking to buy a new gaming PC. I had a budget of around £1500 in my head originally. I'd appreciate it if you guys could improve my basket and give me your opinion if I could be getting more for my money. Thanks!

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £1,347.44 (includes shipping: £12.60)

I also need to purchase windows 10 so that's another £100ish.

Tomahawk is a better mobo
True. But not quite the full story though...
Both boards have the same vrms. Tomahawk has a slightly larger heatsink
Both will power a 3700x just fine

Tomahawk has more bling bling and usb-c ...if that is important

Ofc for a tenner difference, depends on what one really wants...but seeing as I'm waaaaay under budget on my build...might as well get the tomahawk then :P

What are you planning to do with the system? Do you need to spend £1500 when £1k would do, and you could save the £500 for something like a graphics card upgrade in a couple of years? What sort of monitor are you using, is it 4K, 1080p, variable refresh? Do you play games etc?

I will be just be using it for games. My current pc was built about 6 or 7 years ago and had a gpu upgrade a couple years ago. I'm going to be gifting that to a friend so I need a new build (and I'm more than ready for it).

I also currently use a 1080p monitor but I will be upgrading this once I decide on the pc hardware.

I don't really know if I 'need' to be spending the extra £500ish, I don't stay up to date with the ins and outs of the components world (which is why I appreciate you guys a lot :D). But if I can get a decent amount of gain from spending that extra bit I will do. My budget isn't set in stone, I just want something which let's me play whatever I want for the next few years at the highest settings without spending crazy money.

You'd gain more by getting a decent 1440p monitor with variable refresh rate support rather than chucking more dosh at the PC. A 5700XT is more than adequate for 1440p, and like I said in 2-3 years that extra £500 would end up giving you a whole new experience again. :)

I see that you haven't got a keyboard and mouse in your build. If you have some spare cash, have a think about whether you'd like to treat yourself to new peripherals. They are, after all, your touchpoints with your rig. I've just picked up a Corsair K70 MK2 and it's lovely, although I'm moving from an Apple keyboard so I'm in the process of recalibrating my fingers.

Thanks but I am very happy with my keyboard and mouse set up. I also have the K70 but mine is the Lux version. I'm using the Corsair Dark Core SE mouse. I'm sold on the Corsair peripherals
