PC build advice. £1000-2000 budget.

Could you guys suggest a few builds within this budget range to offer me the best experience for gaming?

Also, would it be worth it in your opinion to stretch to the higher end of this budget or would the gains be negligible for the cost? I'm very comfortable around £1500 but could stretch to £2000 if it will make a huge difference.

I will be buying myself a new monitor separate to this build and budget (suggestions also welcome, thinking <£500 area). I do not need an OS.

I put this together for you, its on the low side of your budget but i think its a good value system, still needs a case also.

i got a similar system just different mobo and powersupply being 750 watts, still building it though

The monitor seems the OcUK forumer's 27" IPS 144Hz Freesync/Gsync compatible favourite, currently (check Monitor forum).

Thanks, in your opinion, is this the price range i should be sticking to then? ie not really worth the extra £500-800ish for any added performances?

The only thing that will give you further performance (for games) is changing the GPU to an RTX 2080 or 2080 Super, and adding £200-350 more. How much more performance will it give you, well that depends on the games you want to play at what resolution and refresh rate monitor you are using.

The added cost will certainly not scale in a linear fashion, spending double on the GPU might get you ~20-25% more performance at best.
