MSI X570 ACE Started Massively Overvolting CPU Out of the Blue

I was playing Jedi Fallen Order today and the game crashed but everything seemed fine, voltages and temperatures were normal. I then played another ~25-30 minutes and exited the game then opened HWInfo, I noticed that the VRM temperature was 75C rather than the normal 40-50C and that the CPU (3900X) was at 90-95 C at idle and throttling. Also, the POST code reader that usually shows CPU temperature had stopped working and was displaying 00.

I think my motherboard has gone faulty and is massively overvolting the CPU as if I start it up now it immediately goes into the 80s and 90s C, VRM temps go into the 70s C and my fans ramp up. I have stopped using the PC and will RMA the board but I am concerned that my shiny new 3900X has been damaged. VRM and CPU temperatures are up massively so it's not the cooler which is high end (NH-D15S, all fans are spinning).

I have an R9 3900X, MSI X570 ACE and Noctua NH-D15S cooler.

What bios version are you using ? Also use ryzen master to check the voltage.

what’s the temps like in other programs/ benchmarks type of stuff?

Latest V170 BIOS AGESA 1.0.0.4B. This problem happened either during playing a game or immediately after exiting, I confirmed temperatures with Ryzen Master and the POST code reader when I restarted the PC and it started working and displaying CPU temperature again.

I did notice in my anxiety that the VID for each core in HWInfo was only about 1V as the CPU was throttling to keep temperature down but I think this is what the CPU is requesting rather than what it's getting and VCore was probably much higher. I have a Noctua NH-D15S and all fans were spinning so it can't possibly be inadequate cooling.

Given VRM temps were also very high and the POST code reader stopped displaying temperature then I'm confident the motherboard is to blame. I'm in the process of taking it apart and I will be replacing it with a Gigabyte Master, I just hope the CPU has not been damaged in any way. I've had very bad luck with MSI as this is my second faulty board. Thanks for the help though.
