Asus ROG Maximus CrossHair VIII vs MSI Meg ACE vs Gigabyte Auros Master

I have the same issue as you. It all bogs down to features you want. Both the Ace and CHVIII have dropped in price compared to how much they were in July.

They say the Master is the best in VRMs.
The Ace has the best spot for the chipset cooler.
The CHVIII is a beast with a bazilion usbs.

The Ace is 50 or so cheaper than the rest. I would get the master if it was 300, but not sure if i can justify the price, 300 is already stupid money for something i know will break in the future (active cooling).

What would you be needing?

Do you need 3 nvme? Then CHVIII probably is a nono unless you get an expansion card.

Do you need more than 4 sata? Then again without an expansion card the ACE is out.

I originally was looking to get the Asus for the amount of USBs it has, but the 3rd NVME omision is hurting me, could live with it and then realised it has only one USB3.0 header = 2 x USB3.0 for the front while my C700p needs 2 headers as it has 4 USB3.0 at the front.

I was also concidering the MSI Unify which is a non RGB version of the ACE with a few things removed and changes to the better on some areas. Doesn't have 1Gb Intel ethernet, has a better spot for the error codes, has aluminium heatsink but no heatpipe to the fan.

Ocuk doesn't stock this atm though and no review i can see online anywhere although some videos i have seen it actually is better in the vrm temps than the ace just by a small percentage

All very similar in price for me, which one is the best option for a 3950x?

Master has the Best RMA - UK based with Gigabyte rep on here . asus sent a bot once and its gone .
Master and CHV do have good VRMs (once you've really researched layout of asus ) Xtreme is the BEST ! but wouldn't pay that cash for it!

seems Aorus Bios has had a big overhaul but havent used it yet . MSI is nice and slick

Most warranty is return to base, kinda a redundant point.

There’s a really good roundup on gamersnexus I think it’s called on YouTube. It was uploaded earlier today and runs through the main boards to keep a look out for.

Return to reseller whom then side to EU for Asus, MSI, asrock. Gigabyte can rock up and drop your mobo off at their UK HQ if you'd like.
Just have a skin through gigabyte posts for repairs and see their rep in action .
Vendors will always repair their hardware first, normally 3 attempts to . Can in cases get reseller to send a new one but costs them stock untill vendor replaces

What's Asrock warranty like?

Think I may stick to UK RMA centres, only know of Gigabyte and EVGA who have one. Why you have to pay for a warranty repair is mind boggling.

EVGA is EU still I believe . Mother board at least . Gigabyte only for the UK . Still though heard EVGA RMA is good .

Think its more shipping or in that case tax. If we Leave the EU without a deal , then all shipments from EU-UK-EU will have to pay import tax even if its repair etc, and cost of posting to EU increase ( regardless of peoples views for pro and con ) . Not sure how resellers will take that as normally they are ones to handle a buyers RMA , shouldn't have to go direct to vendor but some prefer to .

EVGA do have a UK place now, no idea when it happened, although it is a 3rd party company that does it on their behalf.

cheaper , Seasonic, bequiet use 3rd party companies in German to do theirs.
interesting if this happened after 2016 . Perfect sense

think Gigabyte has/had a laptop place in swansea, well least good 10 years ago when i lived there but believe 3rd party and was repair center but still had Gigabyte Naming on the building
