Just curious! I have a couple of Home Minis in the flat and I'm hoping for some smart bulbs to improve my waking-up abilities in the morning (lol yeah right). I currently have music from my phone as an alarm, so it would be nice to do this via a semi-decent speaker (i.e. another GH).

I'm wondering who has one in the bedroom, I'd be worried it might pipe up in the middle of the night or something. That's only ever happened a couple of times with the one downstairs (TV presumably set it off) but still..

I do. I used to wake up to BBC radio before they pulled it from Tunein
I just say 'hey Google, play 6 music' and she does. I think it uses the iPlayer service no?

With the 'new' alarm functions in Android you can set routines to play radio (but not Google Play Music which is annoying).

yup, just got a couple of echos in the BF sales and bunged one in the bedroom. great to set a routine to wake up to - slowly brightening lights and radio station of choice. only had 1 instance of it chirping up at night and that was my own fault.

We have one in our bedroom. Had it there since our daughter started with night terrors. (now stopped thankfully)
I set a light group so I could tell it to turn on the group as I got out to go see to her.

Group had my bedside lamp, landing and her room, saved fumbling for switches.

I think it’s important to have a zone in your house that is free of such listening devices. We have them all over the downstairs, but none upstairs. Siri is switched off on both our phones too.

If you want a sunrise alarm clock, our Lumie one is decent.

Why? To be honest my we don't talk much in the bedroom*

*Because we're either reading, or asleep. Duh :p

If you're having important conversations would you go to a "quiet" room and be conscious of them?

I've got a smart plug, plugged into a lamp. Theres not much chance I'm sleeping through that.

It auto turns off too, which is handy.

Got a Beam attached to the TV in there. So we can have our alarm as a random song from a rock classics playlist.

Don't really use the voice side of it much apart from sometimes to tell the alarm to shut up.

I've never had it chirp up apart from when we were already talking ourselves and it misheard something as Alexa, so no risk of waking us.

We've just got an Amazon Input and some speakers. The speakers are connected to the TV or the input dependent on what we're doing, but I've found it great to have music upstairs so I'm loving it. I literally only have her play music, we've got no other smart devices.

I have a Google Home Mini in the bedroom connected to Sonos and smart sockets on lamps. No issues with it making any noises in the night etc. Works perfectly to control lamps and bulbs.
